What is Upward Bound Math and Science?
UBMS is a federally-funded program that seeks to assist high school students (9th-12th grade) that are first generation and/or low-income in a pre-college program that is designed to help the student achieve their educational goals.
UBMS serves 65 students from nine local high schools: Berry, Brilliant, Fayette County, Hamilton, Hubbertville, Lamar County, Marion County, Pickens County, and Sulligent.
What type of student are we looking for?
Besides low-income and first generation students, we are looking for students that want to go to college and are interested in a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) career.
What Trypes of Services do we Offer?
UBMS offers weekly tutoring services, cultural events, career and readiness assessments, ACT prep, financial literacy, college application and financial aid assistance (FAFSA), college visits, monthly stipends, and so MUCH MORE!
