Dear Winston Campus Elementary Families:
For those of you that are new to Winston Campus Elementary, I would like to take a moment to introduce myself as the Principal. This will be my 4th year as Principal of Winston Campus Elementary, and my 8th year as as administrator in CCSD15. It is my goal to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows us to prepare our students for their future as we work hard to help each and every student achieve success.
During the school year, you will receive communication from me every week on Sundays around 6:00 p.m. I will include information relevant to our school, important dates, and highlights of students in our classrooms!
I hope that you and your family were able to relax and have some fun this summer! My family and I stayed in town and we got to take advantage of the wonderful weather and spent as much time in the water as we could! Maui, our pug, turned 3 and is a swimming machine!
The Winston Campus Elementary staff and I are so excited for the 22-23 school year and can’t wait to welcome students back to school! The first day of school is quickly approaching! Students in grades 1-6 will return to school on Wednesday, August 17 for a half day. Kindergarten and preschool classes will begin Thursday, August 18. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, August 16th at 1:30 PM for Meet the Teacher! The countdown is on!
The Winston Campus Elementary staff has been working very hard to prepare for another amazing school year! We're very excited to show off our renovated and modernized library and gym! Meet our Assistant Principal!
I hope each of you are having a great summer! I want to take a few moments to introduce myself to the Winston Campus Elementary Family. I am Jack Olson and will be the new assistant principal this year. I am super excited about getting to work and being a part of the Winston Elementary Team.
Before coming to Winston Elementary, I spent this past 2021-2022 school year on the junior high side of our building as an assistant principal. I am looking forward to being a part of our stellar elementary team while supporting each of you, and our students, to ensure we have a successful school year.
Prior to coming to District 15, I was an elementary school assistant principal District 308 for a few years. Before that, I taught language arts in the middle school setting in both La Grange and Chicago.
My wife and I live in Naperville with our 2-year old son Nicholas and 6 month-old son Blake. Once again, I am beyond thrilled to be joining the team, getting to know each of you, our students, and the families of Winston Elementary. I am ready to build upon all of the amazing things that have happened here and continue to make it a great place for all of our students.

Teacher Assignment
Your child's classroom teacher assignment is available to view by logging into the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. A free mobile app for Infinite Campus is also available to download.
Your Infinite Campus login is your email address. If you forgot your password, click "forgot my password" and a new one will be emailed to you.
** If you have not completed online registration for your child, or have not provided 3 proofs of residency verification, you will not be able to see your child's teacher assignment. Please call our main office, Monday-Friday between the hours of 6:35 a.m. and 3:05 p.m.
School Supply Lists
Attendance:
One of our Winston Campus rules is to Be Responsible. It is important that students are at school, on time, prepared, and ready to learn each day. Academic success is directly correlated to attendance and tardies. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and willingness to work together to help your child succeed.
Our first bell rings at 7:20 a.m. Students who wish to eat breakfast may go down to our cafeteria at this time. Please help our students arrive at school in time to be seated at their desk and ready to learn each day. Classroom instruction and the Tardy Bell rings at 7:35 a.m.
If your child will not be in school due to illness or other circumstances, please call the attendance line at 847-963-7501 before the start of the school day. When reporting an absence, please make sure to include your child’s full name, teacher, date of absence, and reason for absence.
If a student is to be absent because of a family vacation, parents should notify the school office in writing at least one week before the planned absence.
Any unverified absence will generate an attendance call home.
School Nutrition Services
For the 2022-2023 School Year, Winston Campus Elementary is eligible to participate in the National School Breakfast and School Lunch Programs called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). This means all students are eligible for free meals through their schoolwide CEP status, based on federally outlined criteria.
What does this mean for families attending the CEP school(s) identified above?
Again, all enrolled students will receive a free breakfast and lunch at school at no charge to your household. Your child(ren) will be able to participate without having to pay a fee, but we ask that you still complete the Fee Waiver form here (Spanish form) to determine if your family qualifies for other financial assistance such as school fees, athletic, and activity fee waivers. Again, completing the application is still necessary for other programs and assists with funding for educational programs in District 15. The Fee Waiver form (Spanish form) may be turned into the main office.
District 15 offers healthy breakfast and lunch options for students each school day.
Menus are available to view by using MealViewer and selecting "Winston Campus Elementary" as your school choice.
Lunch fees can be paid online using MealTime.

Health Forms
For the purpose of safeguarding the health of children, District 15 enforces Illinois student health requirements. These requirements consist of health, dental, and eye exams and immunizations specific to grade and age.
Health exams are required for students entering pre-school, kindergarten, sixth grade, and those who are new to the school. The Certificate of Child Health Examination form is available online and in the school office.
The exam form, completed and signed by a licensed healthcare provider, must be dated within one year prior to the first day of school and must include lead screening for children who are six years or younger and diabetes screening.
Health forms can be brought to the school office at any time.
On October 15, students who have not provided a health exam or required immunizations will be excluded from school. Students new to Illinois schools, who register mid-term, have 30 days following registration to comply with the health requirements.

Winston Campus Elementary Arrival and Dismissal Procedures!
Main(Visitor) Entrance (Palatine Road) - In an effort to maintain a safe school environment, all visitors must check in and sign out at the front office. Visitors are required to provide a government issued photo ID to enter the building. All ID’s will be scanned using our Raptor System and visitors must wear a visitor’s sticker. The school office is located just inside the main entrance off of Door 1. All visitors must enter and exit through the main entrance, as you will not be allowed in or out of the school at any other door. This parking area will be completely closed off during bus arrival times from 7:20 a.m-7:35 a.m. and school dismissal from 2:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m. or until all buses have departed.
Students may be dropped off at this entrance if they are tardy to school after all buses have departed.
Palatine Road Driveway - The driveway which enters off Palatine Road and exits onto Rohlwing, is designated for bus traffic only from 7:15 p.m.-7:45 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.-2:45 p.m. All grade 3-6 students who ride a bus to school will be dropped off in the bus loading zones and may line up on the blacktop next to the intermediate students cone by door three or may walk around the north side of the building to the B-Wing doors.
Rohlwing Road Entrance and West Parking Lot - All students in grades K-Dual 3 and ECDEC who get off a bus or walk to school will enter the building using the C Wing doors. Door supervisors will greet students at this entrance each morning. All students in grades K-2 will be dismissed from this exit at 2:15 p.m. Intermediate siblings may also line-up, enter and exit the building from the C Wing doors. Please enter from the west lot off of Rohlwing Road. Cars must not pull in line with bus traffic or enter from the Palatine Road entrance. Please park your car and walk your child to the crosswalk. You may pull up to the “Pedestrian Passage” near the south end of the lot in the second row of parking. Teachers on duty at the “Pedestrian Passage” will ensure safe crossing to the sidewalk. Upon dismissal, please get out of your car and meet your child by his or her exit door. Please cross at the designated crosswalk avoiding the bus traffic. Please do not park in the designated church parking spots, violators are subject to ticketing.
Babcock Drive - All grade 3-6 students will enter the building at the B Wing doors off Babcock Drive. Door supervisors will greet students at this entrance each morning. These students will also be dismissed from this exit at 2:15 p.m. Intermediate students may be dropped off at this location on the south or school side of the street only. Upon dismissal, intermediate students may be picked up at this location on the south or school side of the street only.
Drop-Off and Pick-Up Car Traffic—Safety is a primary concern when dropping off or picking up children from school. Please observe all directional site signs and stay within the 20-mph speed limit around the school streets. We ask parents of our primary students to park in the church parking lot and walk your child to the C wing doors. Parents of our primary students are also strongly encouraged to park in the church parking lot and wait at the C wing doors for pick up. Parking in the coned-off church parking spots is strictly prohibited.
Leaving School
Students are not authorized to leave school property while school is in session unless they are signed out by a parent, legal guardian, or other authorized person. If a parent plans to take a child out of school before dismissal time, he/she should submit a note to the teacher. Children will be dismissed from the office and the parent or guardian must sign the student out. For student safety, a picture ID is required before the child is released.
WCE Meet the Teacher and Parent Orientation!
The Winston Elementary teachers would like to invite all of our students to Meet the Teacher Day on Tuesday, August 17 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. We ask students to bring all their school supplies to Meet the Teacher Day.
If you and your child are not able to attend our scheduled Meet the Teacher Day, your child may bring his/her supplies on Wednesday, August 17, the first day of school for grades 1 – 6. Just as a reminder, this is a half day for students. The first day of school for kindergarten is Thursday, August 18. This is a full day for all students.
We would also like to invite you to our Parent Orientation Night on Thursday, August 25.

Parent Orientation Norms
Please refrain from visiting a past teacher your child may have had. The purpose of this orientation is for you to get to know your child’s current teaching staff.
Please remember that this is a time to receive an overview of your child’s school day and curriculum. This is not a time for a 1:1 meeting.

At Winston Campus Elementary, we teach our students how to be respectful, responsible and safe throughout the school year. We also teach our students strategies and help them learn to solve their own problems. Our PBIS handbook is available on our school website and is also linked into weekly newsletters sent home electronically. Included in our handbook is information about all of our PBIS systems. We ask every WCE parent to review the handbook with your child.
We have the highest expectations for all of our students and staff and we live by our core beliefs, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe. Over the summer, Winston Campus Elementary received the highest recognition with the Midwest PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Network of schools. We have been recognized for our work toward fully implementing a framework that leads to improved student outcomes. The framework helps to increase consistency of instruction, enhances staff skills, proactively provides supports for learners, and builds stronger relationships with students across all levels of the school.
We will continue supporting students' Social Emotional Learning Needs and Peer Relationships with implementation of our Expect Respect Program and Second Step curriculum. This will teach students our stop sign and proactive measures to respond to disrespectful behaviors.
As we return to in-person learning, there are some very important health and safety protocols that students entering the buildings will need to remember. As parents/guardians, your full participation and adherence to all guidelines will help ensure everyone stays healthy!

Our PTA provides vital support to our school, offering over 25 programs for our children and families. We are fortunate to have parent volunteers who can be seen each and every day working with students and supporting our school.
Please join the Winston Campus Elementary PTA! With your donation, you will become a part of an organization that helps support your child's school. Your PTA provides such programs as the Recreation Nights, the Science Fair, the Back to School Picnic, a Birthday Book for each child, the school calendar, and the monthly newsletter. The Winston Campus Elementary PTA wants to welcome you to our wonderful community of parents, students, and staff! We can’t wait to meet your family. We would like to invite you to three upcoming kindergarten park playdates to give your child a chance to meet other future Eagles (and Jane Addam Jaguars)! We are organizing these playdates in collaboration with Jane Addams PTA. Please save the dates, we will send reminders as they get closer!
