Central Elementary Staff News----May 9--May 13
vision of all kids growing and finding success.
Dear Staff,
I hope you have had a restful, happy Mother's Day!
Below is the message sent to parents last week in May Central Hub Newsletter. I thought it would be good for you to read what parents are reading as we continue to shape our vision together with our parents and our community.
Dear Central Parents,
It is hard to believe that is it May! This has been an incredible year of learning for all. What a pleasure it has been getting to know all of you and your children! I can honestly say that Central Elementary is a wonderful place to learn and grow.
One of the things we did this year as a staff was create a mission statement that embodies what we value and what we want for our students. After working on this for several months, gathering input from both certified and classified staff, we have come up with the following mission statement.
Providing engaging academic experiences, the Central Elementary Community will inspire and support students to become caring, confident, life-long learners.
Although many of you are counting the days of summer, I am counting the days until we return on August 2nd. There are 70 days until the first day of school. When we return on August 2nd we will continue to focus on Literacy, STEM education, and Kindness. We are all going to continue to grow and pursue excellence in these areas.
We have so much happening over the summer. Central Elementary will be undergoing a renovation, which will have us out of the building until July 30th. When your children return to school, they will enter through an updated, safer entryway. All classrooms will be completely updated with new carpet, paint, and tack board. The library is moving downstairs and there will be two new classrooms upstairs. Our kindergarten and first grade Central Clubhouse will be twice the size it currently is for more hands-on learning.
We will not have a traditional supply night like we have had in the past, but we will have a back-to-school night approximately two weeks into the school year where we will be able to show off the new and improved building. Please continue to check out website, email, and mail for updates over the summer. Mrs. McLaughlin and I will be housed at Van Buren, but know that if you call Central, it will ring to us and we will get your call. Additionally, class lists will be posted the week before school starts. There will be more information to follow.
Make it a great week or not, the choice is yours!
Julie

Please use the EOY STAR data for our cards. The window for STAR read and math data is open. We want the most up-to-date data for our students. Meetings to place students in classes will take place May 17th in the conference room. Please begin thinking about student placement.
Please submit your SLO data as soon as you are able. For those of you who have ISTEP data, please look at your targeted SLO and form a score from it.
Please note, after school on May 24th the Gym will be covered with plywood. After lunch on May 25th the boxes will begin being moved by high school athletic teams.
