Welcome Back to School!
New Students
Chris Kochevar
Chris Kochevar is one of the newest students in this school. He came from Hibbing High School in Minnesota and he really likes living in Rutland North Dakota. He enjoys going to Sargent Central despite how small it is. He says there’s less drama and it's quiet. He says this school is much different from his old school because it's much smaller and a lot less kids. At his old school there was three different schools, elementary, middle school, and high school!
Sierra Campbell
Sierra Campbell is also one of the newest students in Sargent Central. She comes from Modoc High school in California. She enjoys living in Forman and its much smaller than where she used to live; we have a lot more fresh air and nice people. She also likes going to Sargent Central because she likes the people here and the classes are easier to understand.
Cheyenne Treat
Cheyenne Treat is another one of the new student. We have lots of them this year! She comes form Modoc High School California. She likes living in Forman because the community is very welcoming and nice. ND is definitely a lot warmer than where she used to live. She enjoys going to SC; she doesn’t have to dread going to school anymore. This school is different from her old school because her old school was separated into three different levels and our building is a lot cleaner. She likes North Dakota because it’s a different change in scenery; it’s a lot prettier and less fake.
Isabella Litchfield
Isabella Litchfield came in the end of the year last year. She came from Hawley Middle School and she likes living in Forman because it’s a lot smaller then her old town. She likes going to Sargent Central because it’s a lot smaller and it’s just overall better than the big schools she used to go to. The kids here are nicer and the teachers can give a lot more one on one time.
Teddianna Hardy
Tedianna Hardy came from the school of Myra Bradwell of Excellence. She likes living here but there are quote “too many bugs” because she’s used to the city not normally the country. She enjoys going to Sargent Central because she loves her friends but she does miss her old friends. She likes North Dakota because of how warm and small it is, and its nice and the kids are friendly. Her hobbies include listening to 90’s music and doing her hair and nails.
Faculty Focus
MRS. WYUM
When Mrs. Wyum was asked about her education, she told us that she graduated 15 minutes from the Canadian Border. She also attended Trinity Bible College and received her bachelor’s degree from Valley City State University. The favorite part of her job is providing a safe, loving, and happy environment for her students. She also loves teaching students to read.
This is Mrs. Wyum’s fourth year at Sargent Central and she’s been teaching for a total of nine years! A few fun facts about Mrs. Wyum include her love to try new foods; “The weirder the better”. She also describes that squid, eel, and liver are a few of her favorites. She was also a cheerleader in high school, and she cheered in college.
MR. WASVICK
Next, we chose Mr. Wasvick. He told us that he went to NDSU, and he is currently going to VCSU for his Master's Degree. He described that the favorite part of his job is when his students seem interested and facts just click, though it doesn’t happen all the time, but it pays off when it does. He also told us that he enjoyed good vibes and laughter in his classroom.
Mr. Wasvick has been working at Sargent Central for four years. He also has some interesting facts about himself that we bet no one knows. Mr. Wasvick lived on the Mississippi Gulf Coast for most of his life and was there when Hurricane Katrina hit. It was intense. He doesn’t have a solid count for this, but he has seen at least 200+ bands in live in concert.
MRS. BOSSE
Third down the line is a new staff member who joined our SC family this year, Mrs. Bosse. Mrs. Bosse spent the last six years and continuing in Child Nutrition and now she is giving it a go at being a paraprofessional! Her favorite part of her job is seeing the students immerse themselves into what they are working on at the time, though she also jokingly told us; “Uh, break time?”.
Mrs. Bosse, as stated before, began working at Sargent Central just this year and she told us that she already loves it! Here are some fun facts so you can get more information about her. Mrs. Bosse and her daughters recently got horses and they’re delving into the equestrian world. She also loves to try and create art projects; her most recent medium is epoxy resin.

Together Time/School Meetings
The school had their first school wide meeting. In it, Mr. Warcken talked about the goals for the year and the reward for reaching our goals last year. Our goals for this school year are to reach 10,000 AR points for the whole school and average 75% or more on AR tests. For reaching last year’s goal everyone will get to go to Allevity Entertainment in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
Throener Does Well at State Trap
Olivia Throener got 3rd place in state trap. When interviewed this is what she said:
Interviewer: “When did you join trap?”
Olivia: “Four years ago, in 7th grade.”
I. “Why are you interested in trap?”
O. “I enjoy shooting guns and having the accuracy to shoot clay pigeons.”
I. “Are you going to continue trap?”
O. “Yes.”
I. “Do you have anything you want to say?”
O. “I encourage kids to join trap because it teaches you life skills.”
Bulldog Volleyball
This year’s Bulldog volleyball team placed 10th in the Northern Cass tournament to start everything off. Coach Anderson says they are just hitting some typical start of the season hiccups but is excited to see where the rest of the reason takes them.
Junior High Volleyball
High School Football
The Bulldogs Football season is off to a great start; they are 1-1. They had a big opening game against the Heart River co-op. Coach Nelson said, " That they still have work to do towards perfecting our inexperience."
Sargent Central has eight young men starting: Chayse Bopp (sr.), Fletcher Willprecht (jr.), Gaven Christianson (jr.), Tyson Siemienieski (jr.), Payton Bergh (so.), Josh Wittich (so.), Michael Hoistad (fr.), and Wyatt Degenstein (fr.)
The following interview was with Chayse Bopp.
Q: What position do you play?
A: Wide receiver and safety.
Q: How was being the first player to be in a co-op?
A: Its good because I enjoy playing with the Bulldogs.
Q: What is one of your favorite moments in a game or practice?
A: My favorite moments at the practice is when we all are having fun, and everyone is working hard. My favorite moments in a game are making the plays that need to be made and getting the win.
Coaches' Corner
In coaches' corner, we interviewed our coaches of the fall sports season here at Sargent Central. (JH & HS football, girl's golf, elementary, JH, and HS volleyball)
Golf and Volleyball
Mrs. Mindie Bopp
Mrs. Bopp also decided to continue coaching Girl's Golf this year because she enjoyed her first year. She enjoyed being with them and helping the girls develop their skills since golf is both a mental and a skill-based sport. She also hopes to be a coach that makes an impact and one the girls will remember.
Mrs. Jenna Anderson
She loves the sport, but most importantly she loves working with the girls in the gym. It is rewarding for her to see the growth each athlete makes, whether it be athletically or socially. Watching the girls grow from freshmen to seniors is special to Mrs. Anderson and she is glad she gets to be a part of it not to mention the wonderful friendships and relationships between her players and other coaches she meets from the coaches' conventions she attends every year.
When the co-op happened, she knew she still wanted to be involved, even if that meant being demoted from head to the assistant position. However, she was able to keep her position as head coach and she's glad she stuck with it! She's happy to report to us that the girls are having a good season and they have an improved record compared to last year. She is optimistic that her girls will be in the upper portion of the regional ranks and make it to further rounds in the tournament. She is confident in their skills, determination, and the hear to do even bigger and better things this year!
Ms. Rachel Olson
Football
Mr. Kean Nelson
Mr. Jerry Fawcett
Cross Country
Mr. Alex Askerooth
Mrs. Shelia Anderson
Mrs. Shelia Anderson coaches Cross Country. She decided to continue coaching Cross Country because she loves the sport. Their Co- Op works vey well together with all of the schools getting along. Coaching the group of kids they have is easy and fun. She enjoys the positivity and how everyone supports each other. She loves seeing the kids crossing the finish line, either placing or setting a new PR for themselves! They have had a couple of meets so far. Almost everyone set a new PR at the second meet. Mrs. Anderson sees big things coming for their team and making some big noise at state if they continue running the way they are.
2021 Homecoming
The entire Homecoming court included the following students; Alexis Schreiner, Kadyn Wolters, Nevaeh Keller, Chayse Bopp, JT Peterson, and Chris Kochevar. The coronation was hosted by two juniors, Anna Hoistad and Jami Bopp. They prepared two games; Hungry, Hungry Hippos and Human Ring Toss. Simple, fun and easy games for the ladies in dresses.
After the games they announced Chayse Bopp and Nevaeh Keller as our Homecoming King and Queen. Congratulations, guys!
Then the following Friday there was a small pep rally with Gwinner and Milnor in the Milnor activity center and a parade.

Chayse Bopp
Chayse Bopp when interviewed said that his senior year has been going pretty good so far. After graduation he plans to get into a nursing program. He also says it feels normal that he is graduating this year. Chayse also explains that this is how he expected his senior year to go. If he could go back in time and give himself advice, he would tell himself to “Actually pay attention in class.”
Alexis Schreiner
Students take a trip to Washington D.C.
This August, a group of kids and a handful of parents from our school went to Washington D.C. with World Classrooms. They went to numerous monuments and memorials while being in D.C.
On the first day, the first they did a lot of walking with only having a few hours of sleep from the four-hour bus ride and two-hour plane ride. They also visited the World War II Memorial, Washington Monument, Tidal Basin: MLK, FDR, & Jefferson Memorials. The kids were amazed at the Gaylord National Hotel the World Classroom had chosen.
The next day the kids did even more walking by getting a tour of Arlington National Cemetery, seeing The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Capitol Hill Tour, getting a 360 tour of the Whitehouse, and ended the night with a good supper in Georgetown.
On the third day, the kids and parents took a tour of the Gettysburg Cyclorama Museum & Battlefield Tour, and ended the day with a night on the National Harbor. On the fourth and final day, they visited George Washington’s home at Mount Vernon. After Mount Vernon, they left for the airport to head home. The kids said they had an amazing time on the trip and highly recommend going.
Three awards were given out to our SC students:
- Mrs. Jenna Anderson won the Gilbert award for being involved and talking more about the culture. (This was the adult award)
- Gaven Christianson won a Dundee award for making the trip fun and keeping us laughing.
- Jami Bopp won a Dundee award for helping out the trip guides and by being a leader and doing what they asked her to do.
- LeiLani Ringer won a Dundee award for taking the trip by the horns and making the most out of her trip.

Classroom Activities
Seniors
Juniors
Throughout the month of September, the juniors at Sargent Central have done a few activities. They attended the college fair at NDSCS and got to walk around and talk to some of the local colleges and lean about them. In Food and Nutrition, on Mondays, their class has made multiple batches of play dough for the elementary classes to play and make stuff with. They have also got to make apple crisp with ice cream and banana bread. Mrs. Harrington started something new this year, the kids get to decorate things like a cake, for example. They also got to make a coffee and were supposed to make it look like it was from a fancy restaurant. In World History, they have done an essay and a PowerPoint for projects. In health careers they have been working on Rue Goldberg Machines. (down below, you will see their apple crisp.)
Sophomores
Freshmen
In Career Exploration they had to work together to cross a pretend minefield. The mines represented mistakes in life and every time they stepped on one, they would have to restart and try again knowing not to make that mistake.
In FCS 1 they made Zentangle designs (seen below).
8th Grade
7th Grade
The 7th graders had a fun time in Mrs. Harrington's FCS Class sewing a button on to a piece of fabric. They enjoyed this activity and for most of them, it was their first time sewing.
Pre-K
We asked Mrs. Stenvold, the Preschool teacher form Sargent Central, some questions about her and her PreK Class this September. She explained to us that her kids were learning letters, numbers, shapes, colors, school rules and procedures. Then we asked her about her students' favorite things to learn and she responded that they wanted to learn all the things! Mrs. Stenvold explained that she tries to make learning as fun as possible and their favorite thing to do is everything.
She has planned some projects for the month of September, “We will continue to do a letter and a number a day for the rest of the month, and then we will have an ABC fashion show on October 8th!” Mrs. Stenvold was fortunate to get a great bunch of students this year because they’re so excited and eager to learn new things!
TRIVIA QUESTIONS
How many years do you think Mrs. Weber has been in our school system?
