Igniting the future! 4/7/2017
From the Principal...
Welcome back to the last stretch of 2016-2017!! Our March Team Time was phenomenal and motivating. I continue to be amazed by our 5th graders who write and produce the skit for each team time. They focus on a character trait that we talk about at school and provide such real examples. Our younger students really look up to these kids! We also celebrated Mrs. Angie Freeman as the Thompson Crossing 2017 Teacher of the Year! She is so well-deserving due to her dedication, patience, and ability to make a difference with the kindergarten students and families she works with each year.
It doesn’t seem possible that we have started the final quarter of the year. With this, we maintain our high expectations for students. We have one more round of ISTEP+ tests starting April 17 and going through May 10. This is online. We will also continue to emphasize to treat each staff member and fellow student with nothing but the utmost respect and kindness each and every day until the end of the school year. Honestly, I have seen some ups and downs regarding this with some of our students and I think it’s something we can continue to work on as an entire building of students and adults in order to support one another and help each other grow and develop into productive lifelong citizens. Your modeling and support as a parent is instrumental to this, and we thank you for your involvement in this process, and for supporting us if we reach out to you. We sincerely care about your child.
With the end of the year approaching, it is my practice to work as closely as possible with parents to create the ultimate class assignment that ensures each student’s maximum success. The goal is to create a good match from day one. K-4th grade parents (excluding REACH), who will be remaining at Thompson Crossing for next year, please consider filling out the Parent Input Form that was emailed out this week (and is on the Thompson Crossing webpage). The strict deadline is Friday, April 21. Also, if you have an incoming kindergarten student, or know of one, please make sure you are registering him/her anytime (or asking their parent to) between April 12-14 at our district office. The number of sections and class sizes depend on this information.
Warmest Regards,
Jeffrey J. Murphy
