Focus on Academics

Amazingly, we have already completed 2/3 of the first semester for the 2020-2021 school year. Please help keep students focused on their academic progress for the final six weeks of the first semester. The final 1/3 of the semester is a critical time for students academically. Let's all work together to encourage them to reach their academic goals.

Lilly Scholarship Finalists

Congratulations to seniors Chase Searcy and Preston Fox for being named finalists for the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program in Hendricks County. Three students in Hendricks County will be awarded full college tuition, fees, and books for four years to an Indiana college of their choice through this program. Being named a finalist is a huge honor and opportunity for our students. We are proud of Chase and Preston for their many academic and community service accomplishments.

Cascade High School Production of Almost, Maine November 7th and 8th

Welcome to Almost, Maine, a place that’s so far north, it’s almost not in the United States. It’s almost in Canada. And it’s not quite a town, because its residents never got around to getting organized. So it almost doesn’t exist. One cold, clear, winter night, as the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, the residents of Almost, Maine, find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend—almost—in this delightful midwinter night’s dream.

Our CHS Drama Club students have been hard at work preparing our fall play, Almost, Maine! You can help support them by attending one of the performances on Saturday, November 7th at 7:00 p.m. or Sunday, November 8th at 2:00 p.m. Both performances will take place in the CHS Performing Arts Center. Tickets can be purchased at https://chsin.booktix.com!

The CHS Performing Arts Center is currently featuring socially-distanced seating and a mask requirement for patrons. Thank you for valuing the safety of our cast, crew, and staff!

Cross Country

Congratulations to Molley Cook for breaking the Cascade High School girls' cross country record at the IHSAA regional! Molley and Preston Fox both qualified to run in the IHSAA semi-state meet at Shelbyville. Congratulations to Molley and Preston and to the entire boys' and girls' cross country teams on a great season.

National Honor Society

Cascade High School was proud to induct 30 new members into our chapter of the National Honor Society. These outstanding students embody the pillars of National Honor Society - Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. We look forward to the future contributions of these student leaders.

Academic Spell Bowl Team

This year's Spell Bowl team has dominated competitions all season long despite set backs with new rules and regulations. They were the reigning Spellapalooza Invitational winners in September, and they dominated Avon in the county competition in October, beating them by over 20 points. Monday night they competed in the area competition where they qualified for the state championship for the first time in three years. This year the spellers look to dominate the competition and bring the state championship back to Cascade.

Care To Change Counseling Services

If you have a Mill Creek student who could benefit from professional counseling but are concerned about fees, we’d like to let you know about a special opportunity.

West Bridge Church in Danville has created a generous scholarship for Mill Creek students. Through this scholarship, students can receive professional counseling services at Care to Change for any reason, with no cost for the family for the first several sessions. We can schedule sessions at our Avon or Brownsburg counseling centers, or through our tele-service option. In addition, Care to Change counselor Jared Jones can schedule sessions for male Cascade Middle and High School students at the middle school on Tuesdays (during the school day).To learn more about the scholarship or to schedule a session, please call or text us at (317)790-9396 or email help@caretochange.org. Information about Care to Change’s services is available at caretochange.org.

Fall Athletics

Congratulations to all of the fall athletic teams for completing successful seasons. A big thank you to the student-athletes, coaches, athletic trainer, and our Athletic Director, Mr. Stevens for all of their hard work on the development and adherence to safety protocols that helped our student-athletes complete the fall season. Every day in the classroom and every day for extra-curricular activities is a blessing, especially during this pandemic.

Winter Weather

Students will soon begin wearing winter coats to school. We do have coat racks available at the entrances for students to hang their coats. If students need assistance storing other items, they can ask for help in the main office and we will help them with item storage during the school day.

Agriculture/FFA

Four of our outstanding FFA members recently presented at the Mill Creek Community School Corporation Board Meeting. They did an excellent job sharing with the school board about their projects and competitions. They also shared the major plans to construct and maintain a greenhouse. Under the leadership of Mrs. Searcy, the Cascade FFA chapter applied for and received a $15,000 grant from Bayer for the greenhouse project.
