Parent Night Out
January 19 & 20
Please remember that Monday is our Martin Luther King Jr. holiday and Tuesday and Wednesday are teacher workdays. Students will return to school on Thursday, January 21, 2016. Report cards go home on Wednesday, January 27, 2016.
Congratulations to Landon Siani and Britt Glover who both placed at the state level for the North Carolina Young Author program! We are so proud of your accomplishments.
The Carolina Forest International Elementary strategic planning team asked parents to respond to a survey on Wednesday about their interest in students participating in a Arabic elective class during the 16/17 school year. CFIE was approached about submitting this Department of State grant by the Council of International Schools. Several parents asked about the possibility of other international teachers such as Spanish, French, etc. This grant opportunity was limited to Arabic and Chinese and we considered Arabic since we already have a successful Chinese program. To date, we have had 99 parents respond with results 52% in support and 48% opposed. We appreciate you taking the time to respond and share your thoughts. The strategic planning team will hold off on submitting this grant application for the 16/17 school year based on your feedback.
Have you applied for free/reduced lunch yet? You might be surprised to learn that a family of 4 qualifies for reduced lunch with an annual income of $44,863 and free with an annual income of $31,525. You can complete the application online at www.lunchapplication.com.
