Bear Counseling Corner
February/March 2021
Happy February! It's been great to see our students back in the building and see a path to something closer to normalcy. Second semester is into its 3rd week and we've already passed the midpoint in the school year! Registration for 2021-22 school year will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 24th in advisory classes. Please make sure your student attends. Option 3, self-paced students, can find the information on their blackboard page.
Whether your student is hybrid or online learner, or you are simply a parent who is working from home, this has been a really tough stretch for everyone. The sense of cabin fever has overtaken many, and we just want to reinforce the importance of mental health. In the effort to support your student's Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and/or mental health, Central Valley High School will be adding some additional resources. We are happy to announce a partnership with a local district that enables us to utilize interns form Whitworth University and Eastern Washington University to help support our students. Our interns will work collaboratively with the CVHS counseling team to expand on our Multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS). Together, we will identify students in need and develop plans to help support them moving forward.
Course Registration for the 2021-2022 School Year
In order to support our current students and the opening of the new Ridgeline High School in the Fall of 2021, we are making a few adjustments to our counseling department for the remainder of the school year.
Current CVHS students who plan to attend Ridgeline in the Fall of 2021, will now be working with their future RHS counselors, Kara Twining and Corey Anderson. This will be more applicable as we embark on the 2021-22 course registration process.

While both Mr. Anderson and Mrs. Twining will be available for all students at CV for the remainder of the school year, they will now be managing students who are slated to be a Falcon!
What does that mean for students staying at CV? Well, we have adjusted Mrs. Twining's students and they have now been assigned to our 9th and 11th grade counselors, Mary Naccarato and Jeff Smith. As mentioned above, this change will mostly impact your contact person for registration questions, but ultimately, we want all students and parents to know they still have access to all counselors at CV until the end of the school year!
