UPDATE FROM MR. KELVINGTON
Dear ROCORI Families:
Good morning-
I recommended to the School Board and Administrative team last night to make the learning model decision prior to our regular Thursday announcement.
Three reasons for this: 1) Teachers can talk to their A/B students on both Tuesday and Wednesday 2) Teachers can make plans within their room prior to leaving for MEA break and 3) Parents will know prior to the MEA break
The learning announcement is: K-6 will be Hybrid; 7-12 will be Hybrid or what is known as Tier 3...we will be in this model through 10-30-2020.
-K-5 students will still be coming every day as we set up our start of the school year in the 50% occupancy and 6 ft. social distancing guidelines in anticipation of this move. The goal of our elementary planning was to make In-person to Hybrid seamless for students, parents and staff.
-6th grade will change to an A/B model due to space considerations and Secondary Principals will have more information for those 6th grade parents, staff and students later today and tomorrow.
-7th - 12th grade students will be staying in A/B hybrid model.
I will be sending more details later today in a follow up email.
Thanks and Go Spartans!
Brad Kelvington, Superintendent
COVID-19 DECISION TREE - When to keep my child home
How to Notify the Office of your child's Absence
When notifying the office of your child's absence, either by phone, email or Skyward. Make sure you are letting us know what symptoms your child is experiencing. From there we will follow the Decision Tree and let you know how to proceed. When following the decision tree, if your child has 1 More Common Symptom, or at least 2 Less Common Symptoms, they will need to stay home for 10 days or until we receive a negative COVID test or an alternate diagnosis from your doctor.
We understand that this can be very stressful and frustrating. We are asking that everyone work together to help keep our students and staff safe. Following the decision tree and reporting your child's symptoms to the office are the best ways to do this.
Thank you to all of our parents for their patience as we work through this difficult time.
Sincerely,
ROCORI Secondary School Office Staff
TRIMESTER 1 PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES
ROCORI Secondary School Parent Teacher Conferences.
The ROCORI School district continues to monitor the COVID 19 cases in our area. With the number of cases in the county and community, we are working to create a safe and productive parent teacher conference opportunity for our families. With this in mind, we have decided to hold our fall conferences virtually for our families. Conferences will be held on Monday, November 2nd from 3:30-7:30. Parents will be able to sign up for a 10 minute conference with their child’s teacher(s) though Skyward. This is the same format we used for the Entrance Conference sign up in August. Sign up will be open from Tuesday, October 20th to Tuesday, October 27th. Once you have signed up for a conference time, you will receive a follow up message from the teacher with information on how to connect and participate in the conference.
Thank you for your cooperation.
