This program envisions a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.

Library Nights- Begin September 11th
Library Night is a wonderful opportunity for parents and students to spend time together in a quiet setting. Many times a parent and child will read books together and then the student will be able to take an AR test immediately. Other times, parents will bring their own books from home and read it while their child is reading. Enthusiasm about books and reading shared between a parent and child deepens the child's interest in learning. We appreciate your support of Library Night.
See schedule of future dates listed below. We meet from 6:00-7:00pm in the elementary library. When school is in session, barring unpredictable winter weather, you can plan on the library being open that night. *Library Nights are also listed on our school webpage.*

MAKERSPACE ITEMS NEEDED
This is our second year implementing Makerspaces here at Blair Oaks Elementary! If you are new to the school or this initiative, our teachers work diligently to integrate STEAM (or STEM) activities within the daily learning of our students. STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. Our goal is to facilitate the development of our students who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem-solving, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process. Makerspaces provides a place for this type of learning. It is a safe environment for exploration and creativity.
As we begin the second year of this initiative, we would like to ask for your support in refilling some of the supplies we are running low on due to so many amazing projects produced by these exceptional learners! We have a storage space for these materials created for easy access to students and staff. It isn't necessary to purchase these items new, but things you may have around the house. Periodically we may have new requests, but for now a list of items for this year include:
- aluminum foil (pre-cut works best)
- craft sticks
- disposable cups (large and small)
- fuzzy sticks
- ketchup holders
- paper towel/toilet paper rolls
- Q-tips
- sharpies
- stickers
- tape (any kind, including duct tape)
- toothpicks
- yarn
Check out our kids in action in the photo below to see first-hand what these supplies will be used for. Their enthusiasm is priceless. If you have additional questions or would like additional information about STEAM/STEM, feel free to contact me at any time. Blair Oaks Elementary teachers, administration, and staff realize how incredibly blessed we are to have parents like you. We thank you for your ongoing support.
