The 2018-2019 School Year Is Coming Soon...
ALLOW ME TO (RE)INTRODUCE MYSELF!
My Name is....
Andrea Anderson-Parks, Middle School Director.
I am elated to (re)introduce myself to you all. I am an enthusiastic, motivated professional, who deems to be successful. I am a wife, mother, motivator, accountability partner, member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., zebra loving, bridge building selfie queen! :) I am married to the best man (Freddie) in the world and we have the best son (Ahmad) in the world, in my obviously biased opinion. :) I have shared a few of my amazing selfies with you below! :)
On a more serious note, I believe that education is vital for triumph. One of my favorite self-written quotes states, "to know is to grow, to grow is to show improvement, improvements are the stepping stones to success, and to be successful is a step in the direction of GREATNESS!" I love this quote because, there are so many things that are said without saying them; this includes: perseverance, dedication, commitment, failing forward, effort, and high expectations to name a few.
I entered the realm of education only to realize that this has been my lifelong proclivity. Impacting the lives of our youth through the vehicle of education, is my purpose. I love what I do! I thrive off of the success stories of my scholars, and I appreciate my areas of opportunity!
I am an EDUCATIONAL CHANGE AGENT and I believe that I have the power to assist in closing the achievement gap one scholar at a time! One educator at a time. One day at a time.
I am so happy to have a dynamic group of educators to join me on this quest to changing lives. Changing the future of this country is an important task, and I am filled with optimism that this will be the best year yet! Welcome to the DREAM TEAM!!!
All My Best,
Director Parks

MYP Dean
Greetings Uplift Hampton Middle School Family!
My name is Yalea Baughman and I will your MYP Dean. I am originally from Michigan where I attended Grand Valley State University (Go Lakers!). After graduation, I joined The New Teacher Project and was sent to teach Chemistry in Nashville, TN. During that time, I received my Masters in Teaching from Belmont University. Recently, I taught at W.T High School within Dallas I.S.D. I am extremely excited to continue with the Uplift Hampton family this year to promote and inspire a positive staff and scholar culture!
Dean of Scholars
Behavior Specialist
She received her Bachelors of Science degree in Biology and graduated from Texas College in 2005. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. The best years of her life were in college. Her favorite things to do include: shopping, attending and being a servant at her church, dining out, exploring Dallas, and visiting family and friends.
An interesting fact about Ranae, is that she has her own party business called Sugar Junkie. It is her goal to combine her range of experience with her ability to be compassionate, and enthusiastic in order to make a positive contribution to every scholar and staff member she encounters. She believes that Uplift Education is awesome!
VIDEO OF THE WEEK!
ARE YOU READY TO CHANGE THE LIVES OF OUR YOUTH?
A MESSAGE FROM DEAN BAUGHMAN
Greetings and Welcome to the Hampton Family!
I hope that you are enjoying your summer, getting much needed family time and relaxation! Below you will find the link for our “Middle School Years” activity that we will do on the first day we return July 23rd. This activity is designed to engage all of us in reflections regarding our own middle school years. The goal is that collectively we will be able to find the parallels between our middle school years and our scholars. When you click the link it will take you to a google slide form that has questions for you to answer, you will also see a comment box with additional questions if you feel more comfortable with those. Also, there is a space for you to add your middle school photo(s). Thank you so much for participating and I hope you find this as fun and funny as we have!

A MESSAGE FROM DEAN SMALLS
Good Day Team,
I hope that everyone is enjoying this beautiful and breathtaking summer. I am so excited to work with all of you! My expectation for the greatness that will transpire this school year is so HIGH! In preparation for this epic year, I wanted you to think about some of the concepts that we will be working on this year.
Fostering effort and productivity.
- Improving collegial and collaborative activities that in turn promote better communication and problem solving.
Supporting successful change and improvement efforts.
Building commitment and helping scholars and teachers identify with the school.
Amplifying energy and motivation of staff members and scholars
Focusing attention and daily behavior on what is important and valued
Cultures are not created overnight or by pen and planning alone. Jerald (2006) argues that culture is born from an organization's vision, beliefs, values, and mission. My vision for culture is simple….energy with a plan. Culture develops and grows up through an accumulation of actions, traditions, symbols, ceremonies, and rituals that are closely aligned with that vision. This is why this year we will focus on what it looks like, sounds like and feels like in every aspect of our work.
We are going to be intentional this year in our actions and the words that we use. We can either infuse a scholar with life or defuse a scholar’s energy with negativity. We choose life. Enjoy your summer and remember in order to make a big difference in life you must subtract the least from the greatest.
