Update to Face Coverings for Barry and Pathfinder
Throughout the pandemic, the District has been seeking guidance from health authorities including the CDC, DHSS, Platte County Health Department, Clay County Health Department, and Kansas City Health Department. All of Platte County School District's schools are in Platte County; and Barry School and Pathfinder Elementary are also within Kansas City limits. Kansas City Health Department's guidance to our District during the 2020-21 school year was to follow Platte County Health Department's recommendations for all of our schools.
Our current guidance from the Kansas City Health Department is that our schools in Kansas City need to follow the City's Emergency Orders. Under Kansas City's current order, face coverings will be required indoors at Barry School and Pathfinder Elementary when six feet of separation is not feasible. Free Meals for All Students
The District has been approved to serve free meals to ALL students, as well as community members age 18 and under through the end of this school year (2021-22), regardless of meal status. Children can receive up to one breakfast and one lunch each day. Additional meals and a la carte items (extra milk, extra entrees, chips, etc.) are not included in the waiver. If you think you may qualify for free or reduced-priced lunch, please fill out the form linked here, so that you are covered when this free program ends. This form is not required to receive the free meals under this waiver, but helps us assist families in various other ways.
