Week of January 31- Feb 4

Principal's Corner - Happy Black History Month!

Hello Parents and Families,

Scholars will have an opportunity every Friday afternoon in the month of February to listen to a series of Black History NOW! speakers brought to us by Phalen Leadership Academies. The purpose of bringing these guest speakers in front of our scholars is to expose them to professionals who look like them and to hear their stories that we know will motivate and encourage their own pursuit of purpose and achievement.

There will be a school-wide assembly on February 4th at 10:30 a.m. in our gym. The purpose of the assembly is to reinforce our expectations and procedures while recognizing a group of scholars for their academic and behavioral excellence. Parents are invited to attend.

Please bring the entire family and join us for our February STEPP Advisory Meeting! We will be focused on preparing for the upcoming testing season. There will be a special Valentine's activity for everyone to participate in, as well as refreshments.

Plan to schedule and attend MANDATORY Q3 parent conferences through the SignUpGenius link below. Conferences can be scheduled on the afternoon of Thursday Feb 17th or during the day on Friday Feb 18th. Interim reports will be handed out at conferences.

Yours In Education,

Ms. K. Brewington

From Our Office

Scholars can't learn if they aren't in school. Teachers and staff will begin reaching out to chronically absent/tardy students to check in with scholars and support their attendance goals. Students missing excessive hours of school due to tardiness, partial or full absences will be put on an Attendance Plan in order to avoid truancy measures.

Uniforms and Dress Code

This is a reminder that our dress code has not changed. Students are to wear a black collared shirt and/or plain black sweatshirt/sweater if they are not wearing the A+ logo hoodies. Black and khaki are the only acceptable colors of pants, no jeans, sweatpants or leggings are to be worn. Hats, hoods and hair scarves are not to cover the head while in the school building. If students are written up for repeated violating dress code policy, they will be sent home for the day. If you are in need of any support with these items, please do not hesitate to ask.

Cell Phones and Devices

There has been an increase in student cell phone violations including wearing wireless earbuds in the building. Scholars who refuse to put away cellphones, earbuds and devices will be documented and will lead to a behavioral referral.

In order to promote a safe, healthy and academically focused learning environment at Napoleon scholars must comply with our school procedures and policies. Due to numbers of available staff and space constraints, In School Suspension (ISS) is not an option at this time. All suspensions will be Out of School Suspensions (OSS).

A few reminders:

  • Scholars who refuse to go to class, are not in their assigned area or walk out of class without permission will be suspended for a minimum of 2 days OSS.
  • Scholars must wear their masks properly (covering both nose and mouth) when they are not eating or drinking. Repeated mask policy violations result in behavioral infractions and consequences.
  • Kickboard is our Positive Behavior Support System. Scholars received their log-in information previously. If you need this log-in information resent, email Ms. Brewington directly.

Parents and A+ Families, we need your support! We are recruiting available guardians and family to volunteer on campus beginning in January. Volunteer time slots between 6:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. will vary depending on volunteer's schedule available. Please contact Ms. Brewington if interested. It takes a village to raise and support our scholars!

For all transportation issues and needs call 614-365-5074. Questions about the compliance monitoring system may be directed to the Office of Field Services and Transportation at TransportationCompliance@education.ohio.gov.

For technology support please email napoleonloginhelp@aplusarts.com. All students know their log-in information, but if there are any issues please let us know. Parents may log in to scholar accounts at anytime online or through the Google Classroom app.

Scholars must bring their OWN refillable water bottle and personal headphones. These were listed as required supplies at the beginning of the year. We do not have cups available for our water-filling stations, scholars must bring a bottle. Scholars use laptops in almost every class, it is important to have a set of working headphones to hear instructional audio materials.

The main office appreciates the following supply donations:

Bottled Water

Facial Tissues
