Bring Each Day
Backpacks: This makes it easier for students to bring essential supplies to and from school.
Water Bottle: We are asking students and staff members to please come to school and work with a water bottle, if possible. Students and staff members can fill from one of our water fill stations instead of using the water fountains.
Badge & Lanyard: Like years past, students will be issued a student ID badge. The ID badge supports our safe and caring environment by providing proper identification and improved processes for lunch, media checkout, bus transportation, and more. Your child should wear his/her ID badge to and from school each day on a school provided lanyard. Your child's badge will be provided by the school and one replacement badge will also be provided (in case of a lost badge). After the first free replacement badge, a $5 fee will be charged for each additional badge.
Charged Device: K-1st students will be provided a district iPad. Students in 2nd-5th grades will be provided a district laptop. It is the responsibility of the student to charge their device at home and bring it back to school each day.
Sanitizer (OPTIONAL): Throughout the day, we will encourage hand washing, and we will also supply hand sanitizer in every classroom. Students and staff members must wash hands or use hand sanitizer before and after meals and recess.Students may bring a personal bottle of hand sanitizer if they prefer.
Superstar Attendance
Level 1: Attendance rate of 90%
Level 2: Attendance rate between 85% and 90%
Level 3: Attendance rate is below 80%
Mrs. Frayer (Counselor) and Mrs. Logan (Social Worker), will be working with students and families to make sure we meet the 90/90 goal at Southeast. Please help us by making being at school a priority for your family.
If your child does have to absent, please call the school office (816-359-4360) to report the student's absence. If the school does not receive a call when a student is absent, we will attempt to contact you to check on the student.
Car Riders
Students who will be car riders every day will be considered “every day car riders.” All parents will be given a placard at Back to School Night or on the first day of school. On the first day of school, use placards (or a sign with your child's name) and have your ID ready.
The placard MUST be displayed in the front window of the vehicle so staff can identify the parent or guardian. During dismissal, these students will be dismissed through the gym doors on the east side of the building. Staff members will supervise the car riders until a parent arrives.
Please form 2 lines of cars so we can avoid blocking traffic with a long line of cars.
While the car rider line can be slow the first few days, once students and families learn the routine, it will speed up considerably. Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding that our main focus in on all students getting into cars safely. Parents can help by staying in your vehicle and allowing staff members to assist students into cars and teaching your child how to buckle their own seat belt.
Bus Transportation
Families will receive a communication soon detailing how to access your child’s bus transportation information. Please check your contact information in the parent portal (Infinite Campus), to ensure your contact information is up to date. If you have questions or concerns regarding bus issues, please contact the bus company, First Student at 816-359-4560.
During the first few days, this process can take a bit longer than normal as staff members double check that all students are on the correct bus. Then, the bus can get further delayed as the drivers take time to make sure students safely get off at the right stop.
If your child is a bus rider you will be able to access bus information in your parent portal on the morning of Tuesday, August 17th.
Walkers/Adventure Club
WALKERS: Walkers will be escorted to the stop sign at the entrance to our school by a Southeast staff member.
ADVENTURE CLUB: Students who participate in the after-school care program, Adventure Club, will walk with their class to the cafeteria where they will join Adventure Club staff each afternoon. Adventure Club staff checks in each student and cross-checks with our front office to ensure that all students who are enrolled in Adventure Club are accounted for at dismissal.
Transportation Changes
If your student is going to have different transportation, a note or phone call from the parent must accompany the request. Please contact the office prior to 2:30p to request a change in transportation. Bus changes will only be issued for changes in daycare or for the safety of the student. If an alternative person is checking out your student, the person must have their ID scanned.
If you are picking your child up prior to the end of the school day, please arrive in the office prior to 3:30p. Parents who arrive after 3:40p, will need to join the car rider line or wait until dismissal begins for their child to be called out of class.
Food Services: Breakfast & Lunch
Breakfast and lunch are served daily. Breakfast starts at 8:50a. Please refer to the monthly menu for specific meal selections. August menus will be available on the Park Hill School District Nutrition Services Website.
Although breakfast & lunch are free this year, a la carte items can be purchased by students for a small fee. Park Hill offers automated prepayments to a child’s meal account via telephone or internet. Money can be applied to a child’s food service account so children will not need to carry cash to school. If you do not have your child’s meal pay number, please contact the office. Adults using this system may also view a child’s purchases, account activity and set up e-mail notifications for low account balances. Please note: A $2 service fee is charged per transaction regardless of the amount being added to the account. However, money can be applied to multiple student accounts for a single transaction fee. If that is not your preference, payment envelopes are available for students to pick-up in the cafeteria. Parents who would like to set up a School Café Account can go to www.schoolcafe.com. You must have your student’s school, ID number, and birth date to establish a School Café account.
An application of free/reduced meal pricing is available in the school office or on this Free & Reduced Application Page. We encourage everyone who qualifies to complete an application.
Birthday Treats: Like last year, no outside food is permitted in any Park Hill school. The Nutrition Services department is offering classroom treats that may be ordered to celebrate a student’s birthday or holiday party. Click “here” to place an order. For additional information, please contact the Nutrition Services office at 816-359-4090.
