A Principal's Perspective

This was a tough week. Two colleagues unexpectedly lost their husbands. Two funerals, lots of tears, and unwavering support and love from fellow colleagues. What struck me about these two individuals was that they enjoyed life, their families, and hobbies such as golf and traveling. They made a difference with people they worked with. It also made me appreciate family - our own flesh and blood family and our school family. Lifelong friends are made by working side by side making a difference in students' lives. Being a teacher is not only a chance to give to students, but also a gift we can give our colleagues as well. Below is a clip that I hope you take time to watch. A short summary is below:

"Physics Teacher Jeffrey Wright reminds us that great teaching is not just about content. In fact, it’s the human side, the life lessons and the relationships that bind us in our classrooms. Mr. Wright’s inspiring story will remind you what life is truly about, and remind you what a gift teaching really is. "

As I think about the holiday season, I enjoy thinking of ways to thank each of you for the important work that you do. Yes, these are little things given before we begin our holiday break. But though little gifts, they are sent with an abundance of appreciation and thankfulness for each of you! Thank you for being a true gift to our students, families, and fellow staff members at GP!

Be Innovative - Design the possibilities!
