Congrats to our Lakers of the Week!

  • 6th Grade: Shanel Tabares Mora nominated by Mr. Baker - Even though Shanel has been absent a few times in the past week she has done a great job of staying on top of her homework and classwork. Shanel even would email pictures of her homework when she knew she would not be there to turn it in or to receive it.

  • 7th Grade: Anthony Branner, nominated by Ofc. David Clevenger - Mr. Branner used excellent judgment in the lunchroom a while back. This intervention stopped disruption to “A” lunch. Ofc. Clevenger would like to commend Mr. Branner's actions and thank him for stepping up and taking charge during this incident.

  • Staff Members: Choir/Theater Students nominated by Mr. Deierlein, Mr. Moore - Mr. Deierlein and Mr. Moore, bravo to the outstanding job you both did on Footloose. You took all of us on a journey for many months and ended with a great show to present to our families, friends and community. Thank you for your time, expertise, guidance and heart in making sure we put on a great show and felt such pride in doing so. Your commitment, dedication, and passion were evident during the many hours you spent making sure we worked to our fullest potential. So thank you, thank you

6th Grade Families

Dear 6th grade Parents/ Guardians:

This letter contains some timely information for families of our upcoming seventh graders. Seventh grade students must be fully compliant with state required vaccination in order to attend public school, both in person and virtual.

Most kids this age are due for their Tdap and Meningococcal vaccinations; however, your student may be missing other vaccinations or require additional vaccinations. This link shows what the school required vaccinations are: https://www.michigan.gov/ documents/mdhhs/School_Req_ for_Parents_553547_7.pdf

Every 7th grade student needs to meet ONE of the following criteria before October 10, 2022:

Be fully compliant with the state vaccination schedule

OR

Have a medical waiver turned in to the office from their physician

OR

Have attended immunization education with the county and received a non-medical waiver.

Waiver Education appointments can be scheduled by calling the health department at 1-800-848-5533. These appointments fill fast.

If your student intends to participate in middle school sports they will need to turn in a sports physical to their coach. The physical must be dated after April 15, 2022.

Over the summer, when school is not in session, is a great time to get a sports physical, meet the vaccination requirements and get ready for an AMAZING school year.

We will request the paperwork that we need for your students immunization reporting when we return to school in the fall. Please contact Cathy Mac at 248-865-3670 if you have any questions or by email catherine.mac@wbsd.org.

The performance will take place on Monday, June 13 at 1:55 PM in the WBMS Studio Theatre. Family members are invited to join us for this celebration of our semester of learning and growing as performers.

Hope to see you at the performance.
