Parent-Teacher Interviews November 25th
Thursday, November 25th, all parents and guardians will be able to meet virtually through TEAMS with your child's teachers. We are very excited to talk to about the growth and learning of your children and hope that this time will be beneficial to you. To prepare, please take a look at PowerSchool for your connection to Powerteacher Pro to see ongoing assessment and reporting regarding your child's progress and areas of success and continued growth. Additionally, we ask that you use this opportunity to have a discussion with your child(ren) about their learning to celebrate their growth and set goals for the next part of the school year. You are encouraged to visit PowerSchool regularly to see updates on assessment, growth and new assignments for our students. If you need any assistance with your access to PowerSchool, please be sure to contact the teacher of the office for help.
As our division moved to an ongoing reporting system, there are no longer traditional report cards that you will receive. There are no in person conferences this term, so please do not come to the school for your appointment time.
Be sure to check the email that will be sent to all parents/guardians on Friday, November 22nd for more information and the link to book your virtual conference.

EDIAR SURVEY
A reminder from ECSD. This letter was sent to all families earlier this week....
Edmonton Catholic Schools believes it is important to engage stakeholders and greatly values their opinions. Edmonton Catholic Schools has hired external researchers to conduct the Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism (EDIAR) Study. An important part of the study is to survey students, parents/guardians, and staff about their experiences and views about EDIAR. Your responses will help us develop a plan to further nurture our Catholic communities of respect and belonging and take action to improve the experience of everyone.
The parent/guardian survey will be conducted online. Each parent/guardian is asked to complete the survey only once. If a question asks about an experience with your child’s school, please respond to that survey item based on your oldest child’s school. Parents/guardians may participate in the survey by logging into their PowerSchool Parent account (https://powerschool.ecsd.net) and then clicking on the EDIAR Survey icon on the left hand side. The survey is now open and will close on Tuesday, November 30th, 2021 at midnight. Your participation in this survey is appreciated!
HOLODOMOR MEMORIAL DAY
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
~George Santayana~
Holodomor is a Ukrainian word with two parts: Holod, which means hunger, and moryty, which means a slow, cruel death. The Holodomor, which was the Soviet government- engineered famine inside Ukraine from the period of 1932-1933, remains the greatest genocide to happen during a time of peace. At the height of the famine 25,000 people were dying each day from starvation.
Edmonton Catholic Schools has deep ties with Edmonton’s Ukrainian community, and we join them in remembering this atrocity on November 23rd. We learn about it with our students so that they can be a part of preventing such tragedy from occurring again. Several years ago our Board of Trustees unanimously declared Holodomor Memorial Day in the Edmonton Catholic School Division. Please visit ECSD.net for prayers and resources to learn more about Holodomor and how we can remember.
CITY OF EDMONTON WINTER SAFETY TIPS
As we head into winter, it is important to remember and follow water and ice safety, especially around stormwater locations. Please obey the posted signs and information. Stormwater facilities aren't safe for any type of recreation because the inlet and outlet pipes keep water continuously flowing beneath the frozen top layer.
There are many factors that can affect ice thickness, including location, the time of year, and environmental factors such as:
- Water depth and size of body of water
- Currents, tides and other moving water
- Chemicals including salt
- Fluctuations in water levels
- Logs, rocks, and docks absorbing heat from the sun
- Changing air temperature
- Shock waves from vehicles travelling on the ice
It's never safe to walk on the ice of the North Saskatchewan River as water is continuously flowing beneath the surface, which impacts ice thickness.
The City of Edmonton provides important information for all families at https://www.edmonton.ca/activities_parks_recreation/be-safe-on-ice .
DAILY HEALTH QUESTIONNAIRE
A reminder to always complete the Daily Health Questionnaire with your child prior to the start of every school day. As we continue to work together, we are creating a safe environment for learning. Please click the picture to the left or visit ECSD.net.
