Adapting to Culture Change
Change is constant in today's workplace: not a buzz word, but a reality. This course is designed to explore strategies for success and will highlight the fact that societies, communities, and organizations have unique cultures that influence behaviors, tolerance, and decision-making. Organizational culture develops over time and is reinforced through actions and words, as well as reactions to them. Class discussion and activities will stress the importance of being attentive to procedural, verbal, and non-verbal indicators throughout the work environment. Individuals who are aware of their environments and are able to adapt, improve their opportunities for professional and personal success. The module will focus on adapting to culture change in a governmental environment.
Participants will learn:
- How culture is created and its influence on the work environment
- How to recognize and survive cultural shifts
- How to appreciate and maintain harmony amidst diverse cultural perspectives
- How to better understand and encourage cultural competence
- How to design an organizational culture change process
- How to make a culture transition smoother
