Miss Scherer's Weekly Update
5B Humanities
Our Week (October 28th to November 1st)
In ELA, students continued to practice using prepositions in their writing. Students also practiced to proficiently respond to a text-dependent analysis prompt about Character Change. They practiced following the appropriate steps when responding to a text-dependent prompt. We will practice one more TDA on Monday. Then, the students will complete a TDA independently on Tuesday. This TDA will be graded.
Information was sent home about our Book Bistro! These documents are also posted to my classroom website. The students will need to choose one of the books that they have read this year for their Weekly Reading Log. Then, they will create a project to share with their classmates during the Book Bistro. I have provided the students with several ideas for projects. It is important to note that they do not have to choose a project from the list. They may create an original project! The Book Bistro Projects are due on Thursday, December 5th. The Book Bistro will be on Friday, December 6th. The students seem to be super excited! I hope that this is an experience that they will always remember!
Also, the students had a blast on Halloween! The costumes were fantastic!!!
Students received their Word Study/Spelling words this week. They will need to practice these words at school and at home. The Word Study Practice Packet is due on Thursday, November 7th. The students will be tested on their words on Thursday, November 14th.
