Principal's Prose
Greetings Team,
Happy Sunday! My hope is that everyone had a great week and wonderful weekend. With such an eventful and busy week behind us, another pivotal period awaits as we begin the next exciting leg of our journey. This week, as we take the time to critically reflect on our most recent student achievement data and craft plans to close the analysis to action loop, our sense of urgency will be in high demand. With only ten days before spring break and four instructional weeks before the first STAAR measurement of the instructional effectiveness of our Sudie TAG, we've got lots of good work to do team. Historic work indeed, as each of us owns a set of fingerprints that will forever be credited with shaping the Sudie TAG standard of excellence!
Speaking of history, I would be quite remiss to not the speak to national acknowledgement and celebration of February as African American/Black History Month. As our country, and others (United Kingdom, Germany, Netherlands, Canada, Ireland and others) annually mark the history, contributions and cultural diaspora of people of African descent. This year, the District marked it’s celebration by soliciting current staff members to reflect on the contributions of life changing educators. Fortunate to be considered, I shared the story of how one of my teachers (and coach) made such a significant impact on my educational journey. Whereas I was the direct beneficiary of a teachers’ commitment, I couldn’t help but to think how so many of us could tell a similar story of someone who went the extra mile to bring us all closer to our potential. I think the greatest testimony is the opportunity we have each and every day to mark our history in the lives of students. EVERY DAY we have the chance to chisel lasting memories, challenge status quo’s, and charge students with the expectation to be more than what they know. We are indeed in the business of changing lives, and we should never forget it!
Let's keep making our very own history, as what we do today will indeed live on in the hearts and minds of the Sudie TAG family for years and memories to come!
Make it a great week!
Sincerely,
MJ
