Standard:
I can close read and annotate an article to gain more meaning from the text.
What Will We Be Learning:
Students will be utilizing close read technique and annotating nonfiction text to gain meaning. Students will also be taking a Main Idea Pretest to see what they already know about main idea before we jump into that standard next week.
Assignments to be Completed this week:
Monday: No School Observance of Martin Luther King,Jr. Day
Tuesday: Day 1: Annotate Online Text "No More Snow Days" and Main Idea Pretest
Wednesday: Day 2: Annotate Online Vocabulary "No More Snow Days"
Thursday: Day 3: Annotate Text to answer questions on slides 1-4.
Friday: Day 4: Choosing a side of the debate. Write a letter per guidelines on slide 23.
Please make sure students are reading each day for 30 minutes.

What will be learning?
This week will be starting our unit with decimals. We will be looking at decimals in the shopping context. And we will also be looking at subtraction of decimals with few non-zero digits and many non-zero digits.

- Student can describe the advancements of a civilization and its legacy
What we will be Learning:
Students will begin exploring the civilizations of Ancient Greece. The focus will be on the government types of Oligarchy and Democracy by learning of the cities of Sparta and Athens, and the achievements of Alexander the Great.
