Issue #13

In your child's folder is a blue flyer for the Elf Shelf Children's Holiday Gift Store. The Elf Shelf is a way for students to shop for gifts for their families at school, with gifts ranging from $1.00-5.00

This special event will be held at the school from Monday 12/7 through Friday 12/11. You can also volunteer to help run the event and help out! To do this, please call the school or email Mrs. Garza

Classroom News

Congratulations to Joseph, our class spelling bee winner!! Joseph will represent our class at the school spelling bee in January. He will be cheered on by our first and second runners up, Gabby and Chris! Awesome job by everyone! :)

My students now have access to the website with their own account! This is an awesome website for reading practice. Please feel free to access it at home. Simply click on "student log-in" and you will be prompted to enter a teacher username. Mine is Brittanycolabrese. Then students can click on their name and type in their password (lunch number).

We will be practicing routines again a lot this week. This time of year is so exciting for students that they sometimes "forget" about our classroom expectations and rules. Talk to your child after school about ways they were a "scholar" at school each day and the good choices they made.

We are working on subtracting with regrouping in math. This skill is very hard to master! Please practice it at home and we will be continuing to practice here as well.

I will be sending home information about our holiday party on the 18th later this week.

Next Week

Spelling words (long 'i' sound, spelled i_e and y): my, try, mile, cry, fry, nice, by, sky, fine, dry

Challenge words: divine, lullaby

Continue reviewing sight words that we have worked on so far this year.
