Hoboken High School Weekly Update
#redwingway
As we head into this holiday weekend, I hope that everyone has a happy and healthy Thanksgiving. Beyond the turkey and all the sides, I always wish to express my gratitude for all that I have. I am thankful for being able to work with all of your children and provide them with an excellent education and an abundance of co-curricular activities. They keep me young, and on my toes and I get to watch them flourish over their time at HHS. This is what makes my job such a pleasure. I am also grateful for all the fabulous faculty and staff at HHS, which is second to none.
First marking period grades will available in the parent portal on Tuesday, November 30th. Remember if you prefer a hard copy, you can reach out to our main office at 201-356-3712 and request one to be mailed.
So before tomorrow's festivities get going, grab a cup of coffee and enjoy the Smore!
All the best and Happy Thanksgiving!
Ms. Picc
Kean University- Student Leadership Conference
On Friday, November 19th, a select group of Hispanic Culture Club, International Club, and African-American Culture Club members participated in the annual leadership conference hosted by Kean University with Mr. Munoz and Mrs. Delarosa. The virtual leadership conference focused on building leadership skills while implementing the concept of "Global Citizenship" in school and throughout the community. Students across the state, ranging in grade level from middle school to high school, were fully engaged in the inclusive virtual conference where they met students from other districts and were able to discuss relevant and meaningful topics. Kean University Diversity Council Members presented ways for students to have a stronger leadership presence while being mindful of globalism and our changing world. The 25 Hoboken High School students who participated had the opportunity to engage in group sessions, independent thinking, peer team-building, and meaningful dialogue that will be pivotal in their leadership and community outreach skills.
The Kean University Student Leadership Conference was a wonderful way for our Hoboken High School students to network with peers from around the state and experience a meaningful learning and growth opportunity. We look forward to working with Kean University for future learning opportunities.
Moving Forward Together with the Hoboken Public Education Foundation
The Hoboken Public Education Foundation is thrilled to announce our first fundraising campaign of the 2021-2022 school year! This Giving Tuesday, on November 30th, please consider supporting Hoboken PEF in our Moving Forward Together campaign.
Save the date! Next Tuesday, November 30th, is #GivingTuesday and the Hoboken Public Education Foundation (HPEF) is aiming to have our most successful campaign yet!
Mark your calendars for 8am on Tuesday -- Facebook will match the first $8M in donations run through their platform on Giving Tuesday (which usually takes mere minutes!), so we're hoping to have as many supporters as possible submit donations at that time! Grab your coffee, complete your child's daily Covid form, and log on to our fundraising page at 8am to maximize your donation's impact!
With all of our students back in the classroom this year, we are focused on Moving Forward Together to fund important district initiatives across all our schools including experiential and educational field trips for grades K-8, skill-building trips for students with special needs, the HMS musical theatre program, Educational Family Nights, College Tours for HHS seniors, and smartboard technology upgrades.

Guidance
The Guidance Department has been working diligently with students during this exciting, college application process. Throughout the school day, the team has been meeting with students to discuss multiple academic programs, providing support in their future aspirations, and collaborating with college admissions professionals. In the upcoming weeks, there will be colleges visiting Hoboken High School for Instant Decision Days. These are great opportunities for our seniors to meet with the college admissions members of each institution. Furthermore, these days add additional support to the student’s entire admission process and the possibility of financial or merit aid is provided. If students are interested in this opportunity, they are advised to visit the Guidance Department to complete their college application prior to the first Instant Decision Day.
Below is the list of the colleges and dates:
St. Elizabeth College - November 30, 2021
William Paterson University - December 1, 2021
Fairleigh Dickinson University - December 2, 2021
Kean University - December 7, 2021
Bloomfield College - December 8, 2021
New Jersey City University - December 9, 2021
New York Institute of Technology - December 14, 2021
Caldwell University - December 15, 2021
Georgian Court University - January 11, 2022
Centenary University - January 12, 2022
It is important to start the FAFSA application process, if not already completed. This is a form filled out by current and future undergraduate and graduate college students in the United States to determine whether they are eligible for student financial aid. Students should also look out for if their colleges require the CSS profile through the college board. Furthermore, all students applying to NJ colleges must complete an NJFAMS account AFTER FAFSA is submitted. The NJFAMS is where all New Jersey students who apply for state financial aid can view eligibility and "To Do" lists to see if there is any incomplete information needed for you to qualify for state aid programs.
We wish our Hoboken High School families a Happy Thanksgiving!
