Administrator's Meet & Greet
FIRST GRADE HAPPENINGS
If you have walked the halls of Bergen you may have noticed some very unique creatures gracing our halls. They are part of our first graders efforts to help the turkeys during this month of November. The turkey in disguise program helps turkeys take on a new identity during the Thanksgiving season. After enjoying the story, Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving, students completed reports and cleverly disguised the birds. All our new "residents" have bought many smiles to our faces. Happy Thanksgiving to All !
Pumpkin Science in Mrs. Farelli's Room
On Friday, October 28, my class, along with many parent volunteers participated in Pumpkin Science. After reading, How Many Seeds in a Pumpkin by Margaret McNamara, the class used skills of prediction and estimating to complete reports with the actual weight and seed count of their pumpkin.
Afterwards pumpkin muffins and cider were enjoyed by all. A special thanks to all the parent volunteers who helped make the afternoon such a success.

SECOND GRADE FIELD TRIP
2016 Holiday Gift Ideas
by: Elissa Siev, Occupational Therapist
I have been asked by some parent and teachers to recommend games and toys that can benefit areas we work on in OT. I picked some of my favorites and compiled them in a list. Many of these games are appropriate for 1st and 2nd graders and can be modified to be made easier or harder when needed. To make the games easier, consider working on a small area of the entire project at a time (Lego, Perler Beads) or allow all parties to see the “covered up” cards (Sequence for kids). For a game like Connect 4, make it easier by limiting the sequences to horizontal or vertical and not diagonal. Make it more challenging by playing on your stomachs or using tongs instead of fingers to pick up small objects.
