Carver Elementary Coyote Newsletter
October 21, 2021
Dear Families,
Thank you for the tremendous show of support to our staff and students last week at our Coyote Kids Fun Run. The children have done a wonderful job helping to raise funds for our school and we couldn't have done this without all of you. We are currently investigating a program called "Leader In Me" to determine its feasibility in our school in the coming year or two. Some of the funds raised in this year's fun run will help to defray the cost of this program. The funds at this year's fun run will go directly to help teachers with purchasing classroom supplies, enrichment activities, school-wide presentations, and field trips.
We hope to see you all at parent/teacher conferences in the coming days. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions at all.
Sincerely,
Ruby C. Maestas

All Kids Bike Donates to Carver Elementary Physical Education Program
We wanted to share some great news with you! Congratulations to Ms. Demarsh who is anxious to get the Kindergarten children onto the Strider bikes as soon as possible.
Carver Elementary Kindergarteners welcomed the bikes thanks to Jody Perewitz, an All Kids Bike National Ambassador, who has been raising funds to place the Kindergarten PE Learn-To-Ride Program in elementary schools in Halifax, Carver, and Bridgewater. Jody is a compassionate individual who wants to keep kids focused on a healthy lifestyle by getting plenty of exercise and starting by learning to ride a bike.
This program is 100% funded by Jody Perewitz and is free for Carver Elementary school. This one-of-a-kind program includes online training for the teachers where they learn about the All Kids BIke Curriculum and then teach the students about bike safety and how to ride a bike. While many Carver children already know how to ride a bike, it will be a wonderful opportunity for them to learn to ride the new Strider bikes together at school.
NWEA and MCAS student learning profiles were sent home through USPS for students in grades 2-5 on Wednesday, Oct. 19. Please keep an eye out for this important information in your mailbox.
Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021, when the clocks will “fall back” one hour.

Congratulations to Mrs. Erin Shanahan, Grade 1 Teacher
Here are some great things to know about Mrs. Shanahan:
My goal each day is to leave the kids with a reason to be excited about returning tomorrow. My greatest accomplishment in life has been my two children.
What motivates me each day is the smile on the kid's faces when walking down the hall each morning. Being a part of such an amazing team of teachers always motivates me to be the best that I can be.
My favorite things include pizza, chocolate, reading, the beach, spending time with family and friends, and the color blue.
We asked her to share some Words of Wisdom:
"Teachers help students find important things they've lost every day. Sometimes it is a paper, backpack, or jacket...other times it is courage, confidence, or a smile."
Congratulations to Mrs. Carey, one of our new lunch monitors
Here are some things to know about Mrs. Carey:
Goal each day: To help kids be successful and happy.
Motivation/Inspiration- Coming and seeing the kids and what they accomplish everyday.
Favorite Things- Family, Flowering, Working with the kids is really inspiring
Words of Wisdom -Try to be the best you can everyday, treat everyone equally, and make people smile.

THE BOOK FAIR IS COMING TO CES!
Dear Parents and Families:
We’re excited to invite you and our students to our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair. Hosted by our PTO, this event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our school.
After missing out on many beloved traditions, our fall Book Fair will be a familiar, welcome, and safe event for our students.
Here’s what you need to know about the Fair, which will take place from
October 25th - October 28th at the Carver Elementary School.
Our students will be visiting the Book Fair during their school days on Monday, October 25th - Wednesday, October 27th.
All students will receive a $5 Book Fair voucher from the PTO to spend at the fair. Families are welcome to send their students money as well.
Both students and families will be able to visit the fair on our school’s parents teacher conference day, Thursday October 28th. Coyote Spirit Wear will be available to purchase this day! The fair will be available to shop until 8pm.
Our Book Fair offers a cash-free payment option called eWallet. It’s a convenient digital account that your child can use for shopping at our Fair. Grandparents, friends, and others can contribute, too!
If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop online at our school’s Virtual Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school
