8TH GRADE EXPEDITION: I AM THE CHANGE
This year's 8th grade expedition is titled, "I am the Change." Our students will explore the following questions throughout the year:
What is change? Why change? How is change brought about?

Señorita Yordy's Novice B3 classes have embarked on their portion of the 8th grade Spanish Case Study, "New? How Can I Help You?" They spent a week looking at the history of immigration to the United States and some current resources for new families moving into the country. One thing that we've all noticed is a lack of resources for students from the student perspective. As a result, working with the Novice C2 and Señora Berrian's C3 classes, the students will be putting together a magazine featuring different topics that will help a new Spanish-speaking student to our school feel more at home. In Novice B3, each week the students will be writing a draft of an article on each topic (A Little About Me, Activities and Hobbies, Family, School, Shopping, Eating Out, Where to Hang Out).
Mr. Alvaro Lopez Buces, an international student at USC, was another expert for the 8th grade case study, "New? How can I help you." He shared information about Spain, his travels, and tips for dealing with challenges that people face when living in different cultures. He also shared the cultural experience of "12 uvas", part of the traditional Spanish New Years Celebration.
