WILDBAND MARCHES INTO SECOND PLACE!
Congratulations to the ORHS WildBand for placing Second in the 4A division at the Rhea County Invitational Marching Contest on Saturday. Their show, Fuego Del Corazon, was a crowd pleaser as well! The delta between Cleveland in First and Oak Ridge was small! Both groups had the highest scores of the day. Definitely a performance to be proud of! The WildBand is bringing the show home this Friday at the Rhea County Playoff Game!

ORXC IS ON THE WAY TO STATE!
TN STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS ARE THIS FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 4TH
The ORHS Cross Country teams competed in the Region 2 Championships on Wednesday, October 26th at Victor Ashe Park. Both teams punched their tickets to the TN State Championships by finishing 2nd (boys) and 3rd (girls). The boys were led by Jack Biewer in 8th and Manny Cruz in 14th place. Both Jack and Manny earned All Region honors. Eddie Moore also had a strong race finishing 15th. The girls were led by freshman Dylan Job who finished in 3rd place to earn All Region. The boys finished with 77 points, good enough for 2nd behind Farragut with 17 points and ahead of Hardin Valley with 79 points. The girls finished in a tie with Bearden for the 3rd spot but earned third by way of the 6th runner finishing ahead of Bearden's #6. Karen Molina was the #6 runner that made that happen. Thora Spence, Odelia Kneiser, Lily Moran, Kate Laffoon, and Lily Hartman also ran strong races to help the Lady Wildcats achieve 3rd. The teams will next compete in the TN State Championships on Friday, November 4th in Hendersonville.

THE ACORN
MR. STEBBINS LEADS A NEW STUDENT MAGAZINE FOR ORHS
Below is the link to the first issue of The Acorn, Oak Ridge High School’s new literary magazine. In it, we will showcase the creative talents of our students and staff- everything from fiction and poetry to visual and performing arts. As this is the first issue, it is fairly small and features content only from the Creative Writing class. For future issues, anyone who attends or works at Oak Ridge High School is encouraged to submit original works- written pieces of many genres, visual arts, recordings of performance art, etc. Submission guidelines are on the bottom of the last page of this issue.
The intent (for now) is to publish an issue at the end of any term when the Creative Writing class is in session.
Thanks for reading, and we hope you enjoy (and submit)!
