Message from the Assistant Principal
The week before Thanksgiving Break is upon us! We have many fun things planned this week with the Thanksgiving Feast on Wednesday the 17th and Turkey Trot on Friday the 19th. This year, we are not having visitors for our Thanksgiving Feast, but we look forward to seeing you all on Friday for the return of our Turkey Trot. We are so excited to host these events for our students again as we return to a more normal school year.
For the Turkey Trot on Friday, students will run laps at their Specials time. Specials times are:
4th grade 8:10 - 8:55
5th grade 8:55 - 9:40
3rd grade 9:50 - 10:35
PreK 11:20 - 11:50
Kinder 11:50 - 12:35
1st grade 12:35 - 1:20
2nd grade 1:20 - 2:05
Parents, siblings, friends, etc. are invited to run laps to help earn points for a studentโs class. There will be construction fences up, but we will craft a course to navigate all of those areas safely. If it is raining that day, we will move the event inside.
During the Turkey Trot, each class is in competition to run/walk the most laps in their grade level. Winning classes earn an ice cream party and the teacher of the winning class will be awarded a gift certificate to the December book fair. You can help your childโs class to earn extra laps by:
Wear the 2021 Turkey Trot Shirt - Orders closed Oct. 30th
Visitors earn double laps, Visitors wearing a Turkey Trot shirt earn 4x lap points
Bring a new unwrapped toy for our HAAM Toy Drive to earn double laps.
If you are able to join us for the Turkey Trot on Friday, November 19th, please stop by and tell Mrs. Castle and the other Specials teachers โTHANK YOU!โ for organizing and hosting this super fun event for our students and families.
Also, please be safe if you are traveling over the Thanksgiving Break! We look forward to students returning to school on Tuesday, November 30th.

Classroom Activity Fees
Don't forget to pay your grade level activity fees. $10 for PreK and $15 for all other grade levels. These funds help us pay for field trips! Go to this link to pay
Thursday mornings 9:00 am
But check with your child's teacher sometime, and youโll soon discover that itโs anything but! Behind the scenes, most elementary teachers usually spend at least one hour, and sometimes two or three, preparing for every hour of classroom instruction. Those cute mittens with the shoelace sewing strings? Every one of them must be cut out and sorted ahead of time. Which is why, if youโre a elementary parent, many teachers will warmly invite you to volunteerโas much as you can.
We will start a co-op where parents can come and meet together and work on crafts for classrooms. We will provide all the materials and instructions. You can visit with other parents and get to know each other all while helping out the school.
Please RSVP to krose@humbleisd.net so that we can have badges ready to go. Also make sure that you have registered with Humble ISD at the following link https://apps.raptortech.com/Apply/MTA4NDplbi1VUw== so that you might be able to chaperone field trips and work school parties as well.
