Scorpion el Semanario
December 19-23
It is exciting that we have come to the last week before break. Remember that if you will not be coming to campus on Friday, that you need to put in for the full day absence.
The more structure and routine that we have in our classrooms will prevent discipline issues from arrising.
I hope you have a restful weekend and keep shining your light bright for our students and community!

o Ideas for next steps
§ Book study on culturally responsive teaching
§ Book study on teaching with poverty in mind
§ Have staff take implicit biased quiz (Stanford Test)- move into how does that affect how we teacher
§ Learning culturally responsive teaching practices
§ Home school connections- postcards bring them back to staff PD’s (Where are they?) Goal of 2 post cards a month
§ Partnering with parents/caregivers- parents with good relationship kids are more adjusted- work to strengthen those relationships
§ Start with implicit bias- this will be launching pad to go into other areas.
§ PD- shouldn’t be one of us and someone outside that we bring in. Our relationships affect the ability to self-reflect. Could be outside of Sunland or find an expert of the community we serve.
Walkthrough Focus for December
As Ulises, Megan and I are going walkthroughs this month, the 3 focuses are
1. Does instruction match the objective?
2. Is PBIS being used with fideltiy?
3. SEL time- are community circles being done and are GLOW lessons being taught?
We will be providing data in the newsletters based on our walkthroughs to show how we are doing as a campus in these 3 areas.
