Distance Learning Updates for the Week of June 8, 2020
Principal's Message
Dear Wolfsville Community,
Collaboration is defined as: the action of working with someone to produce or create something. When we embarked upon this school year, none of us could have imagined the level of collaboration that would be required to successfully support our children. But together, we found a way to forge ahead into the unknown!
This surely is a year we will never forget. Most memorable for me is the way Wolfsville staff stepped up to do whatever it took, much of what has never been asked of educators before, to ensure students needs were met. Also, the way all of our parents and community members welcomed the challenge and became facilitators of their children's education.
To close out the school year we created a virtual Wolfsville and a creative way to say thank you. Click here to take a peek! https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1PTpSDi-QpjMqYYMDUahuBb4pd2_cliWAztzMfcbkeVY/edit?usp=sharing
Together we are rising! Can you feel it?
Yours in Education,
Megan Stein, Principal

Reading Day
Frederick County Public Libraries Launches Annual Summer Challenge
Frederick County Public Libraries kicked off its annual Summer Challenge June 1. This year’s Summer Challenge is all digital using Beanstack, allowing participants of all ages to read and explore their community through online and at-home experiences. Watch this brief video to learn more. FCPS students are able to link their FCPS and FCPL Beanstack accounts to participate.
While the annual Summer Challenge is designed for children, teens, and adults – with prizes for all ages – the Summer Challenge is especially important for school-aged children. Through encouraging children to participate, parents, and caregivers can help avoid the “summer slide,” in which students tend to lose some of the academic achievements they gained during the school year. Studies show that children who engage in reading and learning over the summer are more likely to return to school at grade level in the fall.
As part of the Summer Challenge, Frederick County Public Libraries will host virtual programming throughout the summer. An event calendar is available at fcpl.org.
Looking for summer reading suggestions? Frederick County Public Libraries and Frederick County Public Schools collaborated to create book suggestions for all ages. Visit fpcl.org/booklist to see the lists.

Attention 4 & 5th Graders!
The band and orchestra teachers, Mr. Cheston and Mr. Jones, invite all current 4th graders to sign up for next year's 5th grade instrumental music class. They would love the opportunity to teach you! Please go to their website that has information about their program. There is even a link to an online sign up form!
If you played this year, they hope you will consider signing up again so you can finish what we started! You would sign up as a 2nd year player and be the very valuable leaders of next year's band and orchestra!
If you did not play an instrument this year, or you did but want to try a different instrument next year, you can sign up and play as a 1st year beginner in 5th grade.
