Dear Midland Families,
It's December, and that means the weather forecast is getting colder! We do go out to recess most days so it is important that students have warm coats and shoes for outside. If your child is missing their coat, please have them check out lost and found! We have many student coats and hats just waiting to be claimed. Please be sure your child's name is in their coat, so it can be returned if left on the playground.
Speaking of weather, it sounds like MORE snow may be in our future. Please be sure to check our district website www.fpschools.org for news regarding late starts or snow days.
We have only two weeks until winter break, but we are still working on important learning every day. Please be sure to check in with your child about what they should be practicing at home. Remember, all students should read for 20 minutes and practice math facts daily. Report cards go home on Friday, so your child's teacher may also comment on other areas where your child can practice.
It's great to be a MUSTANG!

Inclusion
Last week all grade levels learned about the importance of being inclusive in our learning community. Inclusion is a mindset and it is action oriented. Our mindset needs to be that ALL of us matter and we ALL have value in our community. The actions connected to inclusivity can be the words we use and the actions we practice on a daily basis. Words can include: “You can join us”—“I will be your partner”—“Do you want to play with me?” Actions can include smiling and greeting each other, even people who don’t know well or are not friends with yet. Inclusive actions are kind, helpful, warm, and accepting. Most grade levels (2nd-5th ) explored the following vocabulary chart as a part of our inclusion lesson and discussions.
CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS....
We anticipate the need for volunteers this year as well. If you are interested in volunteering as a chaperone for field trips or in any other capacity that may come up, please complete the volunteer application as soon as possible. It may take up to two weeks to process an application and we don't want you to be left out of a volunteer opportunity because you are not approved yet! Click here to begin your volunteer application. If you were cleared as a volunteer last year. Please complete an application as well. Volunteer applications must be completed every year.
