Green Envelope
Our PTA is fundraising with a Green Envelope Initiative. All students took home a green envelope and information sheet and families were asked to give donations - no selling or door to door, just donations. As an incentive, they are rewarding the class who collects the most money with a Pizza Party with administration. The incentive is split into two parts, thus two class winners! The first part has concluded. Congratulations to Mrs. McGinnis' Kindergarten class who won the first party. Your child's class can win the next pizza party. The class that raises the most over both parts will be the audience cheering administration in their very own Bubble Bumper Competition!
Kindness Club
The Kindness Club is asking for your help in spreading kindness to others. We will be collecting items to donate to the local Frederick Rescue Mission. We will be collecting things such as:
Toothpaste & toothbrushes
Deodorant
Chapstick
Scarves
Socks
Hats
Gently used gloves
Gently used coats
The Kindness Club will be collecting items through January 23rd. Boxes will be located in the front lobby where you can drop off any items you want to donate! Thanks for all your kindness!
Upcoming Events
February 14th is a 2 hour early dismissal and also our Valentine's Day parties. We will send out a schedule of times for each grade.
Mark your calendars for February 21st. Our PTA is planning a family dance. We will share more details but we expect it to be a night of fun. There will be music, water, and memories to be made. We will share more details as the event is finalized.
Our Green Team has been working hard with their classmates to ensure that our school is being kind to our planet. We are proud of our students and staff for continuing their efforts to recycle in the classrooms. Remember to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle!
Notes from Administration
We celebrated fifth grader Katie Hahn at the 30th Annual MLK Celebration at Thomas Johnson High School last week. Katie represented Ballenger Creek as our King for a Day recipient because she is a student who embodies the values of Dr. King every day. Our chorus kicked off the celebration with a beautiful song. It was a wonderful evening and you can catch highlights in Channel 18, FCPS TV.
Checking School Status in the Event of Winter Weather
Occasionally inclement weather or other safety or health conditions require FCPS to cancel, delay or otherwise change school routines or schedules. Typically, cancellation and delay decisions are made by 5 AM that day and announced soon after. If weather becomes a factor after school is in session, a decision to close early is made, whenever possible, by 10 AM that day. Very rarely, FCPS may be required to take student safety precautions immediately, with little or no notice. Although we notify many regional news outlets, we encourage parents and guardians to use the following sources for the most accurate news.
