Phase II of Remote and Hybrid Learning Starts Today!
We are excited to begin full implementation of phase II of remote and hybrid learning this week. As you are aware, phase II includes an increase in live instruction for students across all grade levels on their remote learning days. Additionally, today our Kindergarten students began coming to school five half-days a week. In order to prepare for the successful transition to teaching and learning in a blended platform (in person and remote learners accessing instruction simultaneously), teachers participated in a range of professional learning experiences during yesterday's professional development day.
Working collaboratively with grade level colleagues, special educators and developmental reading and math specialists, teachers explored strategies for supporting active engagement of students in virtual learning. Teachers also tested out new technology set-ups including camera, microphone and monitor arrangements designed to maximize students' ability to see, hear and interact with peers learning in a different setting. In preparation for Phase II, the district has increased bandwidth and expanded our wifi and ethernet access in order to minimize interruptions to live instruction.
We look forward to rolling out this new expanded learning platform and will be actively seeking feedback from parents and educators in approximately 6 weeks to determine how the new changes are working. Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Ingrid Allardi
