December 15th-19th

Field Trip!!!

On Monday, December 15th we will be going to the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History for our first field trip. We are very excited to explore the exhibits and watch The Polar Express in the IMAX theater.

**All chaperones must sign in on campus and meet in the cafeteria at 8:00 a.m.**

All students will need to bring a disposable sack lunch with their name written on it, a water bottle, and a snack to eat in the afternoon due to an earlier lunch. Their snack will be eaten at school upon our return therefore please put it in their backpack.

Each student will receive a field trip t-shirt on Monday morning. The weather looks to be in the high 50's this day and at times can get cool in the building. Please send your child with a light sweater or sweat shirt.

We are looking forward to a fun filled day of learning! If you have any additional questions please contact your child's teacher.

The First Grade Team

Christmas Party!

This Friday, December 19th from 11:45-12:45 we are having our Christmas party! We hope that you can attend and celebrate this joyous day before our break. If you wish to bring a goodie please contact your child's teacher or room mom with more details.

Learning Targets

A Learning Target is the desired goal of each task in which your child will actively be involved. In addition, it engages your child in reflective evaluation of their own performance.

Each week you can ask your child about the learning target to ensure a great conversation of "what did you learn at school today?"

Readers and Writers Workshop:

Students will learn how to write short letters with sequence as well as the parts of a letter such as; greeting, header, body, and salutation.

Social Studies:

Students will explore different holidays and customs around the world and compare and contrast celebrations.

Math Workshop:

Students will review doubles plus 2 and learn to identify triangles, square rectangles, and non square rectangles in different orientations.

Students will discover that air is all around us and that wind is moving air.
