Welcome!

Welcome to the 2018-19 school year! It is hard to believe that we will be all together again on Tuesday. I hope that you were able to relax and recharge your batteries this summer. I was able to visit extended family and friends, go on adventures and snuggle with my immediate family, and spent time in the ocean. We have worked hard this summer making plans for an incredible school year and I cannot wait to share these plans with you all during our week of professional learning.

There is much to look forward to this school year, including: inhabiting our new, beautiful addition; playing in a huge, green field; climbing on a cool new play structure; getting to know new staff members; working with familiar faces in new roles; implementing revised curriculum; and, greeting bright student faces each day.

Thank you for committing to MMA, our students, and to each other. Our work is too difficult and too important to complete in isolation. I am grateful to be surrounded by an excellent team of professional, intelligent, passionate, and caring individuals.

As always, please contact me with your questions, concerns, and comments. I look forward to working with each of you this school year. See you soon!

Tuesday will be challenge by choice. There will be team building opportunities that include a high ropes course as well as activities that only happen on the ground. I encourage everyone to participate according to your comfort and ability level. If you have specific concerns, please call or email René.

For more information about the courses and a map to the Eden location, check out: http://clasropes.com/clas---ogden.php.

  4. You will be on North Fork Road for about 3 miles.
  5. Do NOT turn into the Ben Lomond "Trailhead" (Wait for the Cutler Flats Gate).

  7. Once you see the Cutler Flats Gate, turn LEFT onto that trail-head. On this road, go about .6 miles, passing a solar panel on your right. You will come to a fork in the road and a sign. Turn LEFT at the little sign. the next sign you come to, turn RIGHT through the red fence we have opened for you.

Our parking lots and back fire road was scheduled to be re-paved last week. I have not heard a definite date of when this will actually happen. I will keep you all in the loop as we hear more information.

Sneak a Peek

We are hosting a PreK-9th Sneak A Peak event on Monday, August 20th from 1:30-3:30pm. This new event was created in response to multiple parent requests that we have some sort of Back to School event that is not so late in the year. Many parents (and teachers) have expressed to me that they love the pool party; and, that it is not the best venue to talk actual business.

On the half hour, beginning at 1:30pm, then again at 2pm, 2:30pm, and 3pm - each teacher and assistant will greet families, give an overview of the classroom and expectations. Afterwards, please allow time for families to ask questions, meet each other, drop off supplies, and check out the classroom. This is an excellent time to describe the specific expectations in a Montessori environment.

Parents have been encouraged to attend promptly on the half hour so you do not have to stop, start, or repeat yourself. With four time slots, families with multiple children attending MMA have time to visit all their teachers. If parents do not attend your time slot, you may use that time to finalize tasks before students arrive on Tuesday.

All teachers and assistants are required to attend as this occurs during normal hours. Please account for this event as assistants are planning their weekly schedule as to not exceed their hours for the week.

Building Closure

MMA will be completely closed on Tuesday, August 14th as everyone will be engaged in offsite team-building and professional learning.

Class lists

Class lists have been updated and continue to evolve as new students complete their registration packets. Students will be assigned to classes in Aspire on Monday, August 13th. After that, you can email your entire class from Aspire.

Thank you for reaching out to the families in your class.

Click for 2018-19 Required Annual Training

Please have this completed by August 17th, 2018.

Annual Required Trainings

You are encouraged to get a head start on completing your annual required trainings. For your convenience, these trainings are now online and can be accessed by clicking the button above. You are required to have these trainings completed by Friday August 17th - so you could chose to complete these after you return to school on August 14th.

This training includes the employee handbook, legal liability information, blood borne pathogens, sexual harassment, and workers comp. All employees of MMA need to complete these trainings.

Please contact René if you have questions. Thanks!

Junior High Student Schedules

JH students all have schedules in Aspire. These might change as we move through this week, based on teacher feedback and new student enrollment.

We will email JH families asking them to log onto Aspire to see their students' schedules. Before they can access their child's schedule, they will be prompted to pay their JH school fees online. We are doing this to encourage parents to complete this step as soon as possible in the school year. Please do not share student schedules with parents until the first days that students are in the building.

5K and Pancake Breakfast

The annual 5K and Pancake breakfast fundraiser has been postponed. This is organized by the school (not MAPA) and is the biggest fundraiser the school sponsors. René is working with the 5K volunteers to set a new date and will be in touch soon about all of the details.
