Tech You Have To Try
Record to Slides
There are a lot of recording extensions out there Screencastify, my favorite - Loom and others but I don't know if any of them are easier than Record to Slides to get videos put directly into Google Slide presentations. You can record and place the video directly in the Google Slide application without having to open another program or leave the slides you are working on. It doesn't get any easier than that. A great tool to add recorded videos and a personal touch into your presentation or slides. To download click here.
Read Aloud
A great accessibility feature or a great tool to turn any webpage into an audiobook. Read Aloud is a Chrome and Firefox extension that uses text-to-speech technology to convert webpage text to audio. It works on a variety of websites, including news sites, blogs, fan fiction, publications, textbooks, school and class websites, online universities, and course materials. Read Aloud is aimed at users who prefer to listen to content instead of reading, people with dyslexia or other learning disabilities, children learning to read, or simply to provide users with an alternative way to consume web content. Choose from several voice types, change pitch, and reading speed. To download click here.
Dark Reader
Dark Reader is a great accessibility tool for students or teachers. This eye-care extension enables night mode creating dark themes for websites on the fly. Dark Reader inverts bright colors making them high contrast and easy to read at night. You can adjust brightness, contrast, sepia filter, dark mode, font settings, and ignore-list. Plus it has a great icon! Come to the Dark Side!! To download click here.
Auto Highlight
This extension is totally worth a try if it can make your reading more efficient. Auto Highlight utilizes algorithms to highlight the most important sentences in an article, or a webpage. When faced with multiple pages of text or information auto highlight has the ability to cut down your time and make reading more efficient. To use, click the highlighter icon in the location bar. Clicking multiple times changes the highlighting coverage. As the page receives more highlighting from clicking the icon, the icon will show less available ink in the highlighter.
