Shining December Spotlight on PBIS
Batesville Bobcat Newsletter 11/29/2017
Remember December- As Excitement Abounds- So too Should our Progress
As the Thanksgiving Break closes and the Christmas music fills the air, we must remind ourselves each day that we cannot accept anything less than our best. When we give our best as students, teachers, and parents we achieve goals that just yesterday seemed impossible. With each goal achieved our understanding of the impossible is transformed. That process is the foundation of transformative education: to understand and grow a belief in self and each other built on data and a history of progress.
PBIS STARS of the Week
This week we awarded our first PBIS bonus awards for our weekly leaders in PBIS Bobcat bucks. Three awards were given based on three groupings (PK-1st; 2nd-4th; 5th-6th). Together these students earned nearly 75 bobcat bucks for exemplifying the 4 Bs. They are leading the way on campus and helping us to continue our progress toward becoming a campus of PBIS Stars.
Benchmark Testing
Our campus will be observing testing protocol from December 5th through December 7th for our Fall Benchmark testing. Students will be demonstrating their progress to date in Math, Reading, Science and Writing. We ask students and parents to ensure that you are well rested each evening. These tests will help to guide our campus and how we support the learning needs of our students through the spring semester. We are confident that our students will do an excellent job!
PBIS Community Movie Night & Other Highlights
Batesville Elementary is excited to announce our PBIS Community Movie Night. We will be showing Akeelah and the Bee outdoors. We ask that parents, students, and community members bring their lawnchairs and blankets and enjoy a movie event meant to foster community togetherness and motivation for student success. The movie highlights a student's success in Spelling Competition through difficult circumstances. All faculty and staff are invited to bring their families. Movie snacks and waters will be provided. I look forward to enjoying this event with you all.
No Excuses Leaders become Student Mentors
I am incredibly excited at the coming together of multiple initiatives in the development of our student mentor program. Under the direction of Ms. Lynn Simpson, a team of 6th grade leaders has taken on the leadership role of serving as student mentors for EC-4 students whose PBIS data reports show a need for additional support. Many of the mentors are also enrolled in leadership opportunities provided through Girl Scouts which runs under the sponsorship of Ms. Sanchez and Ms. Rivera. Through a confluence of leadership pathways, we are excited at what the future holds for Batesville Elementary.
