Animal Abuse Needs to Stop!
Why do people abuse animals?
2 Types of Acts of Animal Abuse
1.Active or intentional abuse: Torture, beating, poisoning, shooting, imprisonment(especially in a poor conditioned area with lack of air, fresh water, food, or cleanliness), Blood sport (Rooster fighting, bullfighting, and dog fighting).
2.Neglect, or long terms of abuse: Not providing food, water, sheltering, or a clean area. Not providing entry to food, water, or sheltering. Not providing good quality shelter from weather conditions. Lack of health care and abandonment or neglect.
Animal Lab Testing and Hoarding are Other Causes
In the year of 2014 a veterinarian was charged with animal cruelty.
it all started when a family ( the Harris family) from Aledo, Texas, filed a complaint after discovering their dog, Sid, who had been alive at the clinic for several months after they were told he was euthanized. Eventually the Harris family filed a $1 million lawsuit against the abuser to regain the medical expenses , and ease the emotional damages.
Geoffrey Peterson from Dunlap, Tennessee, was pleaded guilty with three felonies aggravated to animal abuse for having 60 dogs and other animals in horrible conditions at his home. His plea holds a five year prison sentence and a ban on owning animals for fives years. The dogs (along with the other animals) have been rescued, and treated given the attention and compassion they deserve from rescue partners.
