#WhyYouMatter Speaker Series - Video Link
Our #WhyYouMatter theme this year comes from a partnership with a county-wide mental health campaign called #wishyouknew. The #wishyouknew campaign aims to spark honest conversations by sharing our truths, feelings, successes, and hardships in an effort to better support each other and connect as one Chelsea community.
This year we kicked off our campaign with another Speaker Series at CHS. It featured some incredible speakers who poured their hearts out on stage. The assembly featured an amazing performance by John Zainea and Katie Minnick (CHS teachers), and powerful speeches from CHS student Riley Thorburn, Alumni Derek Schaedig, John Daniels (Coach), Art Finger and Valerie Johnson (CHS teachers).
I hope you will take some time to watch the video of the Speaker Series. Maybe it will help you think about how you would finish the sentence "I wish you knew...." (because you will - its coming to all of your buildings soon!)

SWWC - Cosmetology Competition - Skills USA
On February 4 the SWWC Cosmetology program participated in the regional Skills USA competition held at the Oakland Schools Technical Campus NE in Pontiac. Cosmetology students from the region competed in the categories of Cosmetology, Esthetics, and Nail Care. Chelsea students Phoebe Gibb and Logan Brosnan were among the competitors. Logan Brosnan competed in the Esthetic category, carrying out daytime, evening, and fantasy make-up techniques. Logan took 5th place overall with an impressive mermaid fantasy design. Phoebe Gibb competed in the Cosmetology category, which required students to complete 3 different haircuts, and a long-hair, formal upstyle. The haircuts included both men's and women's cuts and styles. Phoebe's precision cuts and her intricate woven design on her elegant formal style helped her take 1st place in Cosmetology. She will be going on to the State Skills USA competition held in Grand Rapids in April. Congratulations to Phoebe and Logan!
Quiz Bowl League Champions
They have qualified for the state tournament on March 28! Good luck!
Friday, February 28, 2020
Due to icy road conditions, the Chelsea School District cancelled school on Friday, January 24
As we are required to make up the professional development that was scheduled for that day, we will need to adjust your child's day on Friday, February 28.
February 28 will become a half day for students in the a.m. and professional development for staff in the p.m. The school day ends at 11:10am.
Students will follow the regular half day schedule at CHS. We will also have a normal half day bus run on this day. Additionally, Consortium classes will be held on this day as well.
