The importance of evidence
ARC Focus of the Week
- For the next two weeks we will focus on using a flexible conference schedule with the goal of meeting with every student at least one time in a 10 day period.
- We will begin equitable conferences beginning November 4.
- Log home and school steps daily
- We will focus on entering quality evidence into School Pace. This will include what the student did and what they need to work on. Good evidence will make your next conference easier because you will already have a good idea for the next steps for each student!
What does quality evidence look like?
working on getting rid of the /uh/ sound and working on r blends (This tells me what the student is doing and what gaps need to be addressed. I would know exactly what to do with this student during our next conference!)
Had difficulty transitioning between single/double consonant - could get the two syllables with double consonant but had difficulty with the vowel sound change. POWER GOAL (This evidence is very clear about what the student can do, and what trouble they had. Again...the Power Goal is clear!)
What's New at the Zoo?
that/what
nectar/nutritious
conditioning - T helped with decoding
finger tracking
figured out decisions, example
Kaydence said to herself several times, "look for chunks"
Needs work on phrasing-T modeled
(This evidence clearly shows that the student is still having difficulty with 1G/2G Power words, is having trouble decoding, but is self prompting strategies. We know her next steps...phrasing and fluency!)
IWCS Reading Goals
ALL learners will receive the differentiated support needed to ensure 1 year of reading growth.
And we are striving for GREATER with this added part of our goal...
Proficient learners will make at least 1.0 (1 year) of reading growth.
At-risk learners will make at least 1.25 (1 year and 2 and half months) of reading growth.
Emergency learners will make at least 1.50 (1 year and 5 months) of reading growth.

That's Powerful!
Being an engaged reader has SO many benefits...
Engaged readers:
get immersed in their reading — they read for pleasure, and to satisfy their curiosity
discover information and stories that help them learn and achieve
are motivated to read and learn more — which makes reading easier and more enjoyable, and creates a 'virtuous circle' of constant improvement.
