Weekly Updates
¿Necesita leer nuestro boletín en español?
Hello Bobcat Families! We hope you stay cool this weekend. We have some important updates below, and we hope to see you at the 5th Grade Carwash today from 9am-2pm!
Outdoor Activity & Appropriate Clothing
We're getting kids outside more often than ever to get some fresh air, have a mask break and enjoy the beautiful spring weather. It is important to send them in clothing they are comfortable wearing when sitting on the ground and playing outside. Please encourage safe and appropriate for school clothes and sneakers each day. And don't forget the sunscreen - sunny days are HERE to stay and we're taking advantage of them!
Masks in Schools
On Thursday afternoon the CT Department of Health, along with the CT State Department of Education clarified that “the current rule requiring universal mask wearing for all individuals in all school buildings will remain in place at this time”
Students will not be required to wear masks outside during times such as recess beginning Monday, May 24th. Masks are only required outdoors if students are stationary and in close proximity. Areas such as climbing equipment will still need to be monitored to ensure that too many students are not accessing the equipment at the same time causing close contact.
SAVE THE DATE: 5th Grade Graduation on the New Lebanon Field
5th Grade Graduation will be on Friday, June 18th at 9am with a rain date of Monday, June 21st at 9am. Each family will have a maximum of 4 guests. More information coming soon!
Reading Champions Webinar Offered by Greenwich United Way
The Greenwich United Way invites GPS Families to their free “Reading Champions Webinar” on
Tuesday May 25th at 10AM to help learn ways to overcome the Summer & COVID-19 Reading Slide! Parents and families will learn from Literacy Experts how to: make reading fun, create a Daily ritual, choose age-appropriate books, encourage oral reading skills, and more! RSVP to the Greenwich United Way via email by May 10th. Once you RSVP, the Zoom link will be shared directly with you.
Covid Reminder
As a reminder, if someone in your home is symptomatic and awaiting results of a COVID-19 test, please keep your child at home until results are final. We understand that many families proactively test for work or other reasons, and this type of proactive testing for asymptomatic individuals does not require keeping your child at home.
