Senior Reminders
Intent to Register: Seniors who will attend a four-year college in the fall must have submitted their Intent to Register, which includes a deposit, no later than May 1st.
- UC Intent to Register deadline was May 1st.
- CSU campuses are campus specific so please check their websites.
Senior Exit Procedure: Seniors are required to complete a Senior Exit Survey and Scholarship Report in Naviance beginning on April 26th and closing on May 7th. Report all scholarship offered regardless of whether or not you accept them. Additionally, log into Naviance, click on "Colleges I'm Applying To," and enter and update all colleges applied to and the decision outcomes. Don't forget to include all UC, CSU, public, private and community colleges, and select the college you plan to attend.

Final Transcript: The due date to turn in the final transcript order form is May 20th. The instructions and the transcript request form are located in Naviance.
Scholarships: Continue to work on scholarship applications.
Community College Information
Palomar College: The Palomar Promise offers up to two years of free course enrollment and related registration fees, textbook assistance, and access to specialized academic and career planning with related support services to first-time college students who meet the eligibility requirements. Palomar Promise is funded using a combination of state, federal and local funding resources. Summer and fall registration is now open.

San Diego City College, Miramar College, and Mesa College: The San Diego Community College district offers the San Diego Promise program. The San Diego Promise is a two-year completion program for recent high school graduates enrolled full-time (12 units per semester). The program provides up to two years of free tuition to eligible students. Participation in the Promise program comes with a variety of benefits: an assigned peer mentor, counseling retention & interventions, and additional campus engagement opportunities.

Miramar College Outreach: San Diego Miramar College Outreach will host a Pre-Enrollment Workshop, Thursday, May 19th from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. via Zoom for seniors! Students will receive orientation credit upon attending this Pre-Enrollment Workshop. Please see the information below.

Junior Reminders
College Research: Use summer break to research and enter colleges into Naviance. Log in and access “Colleges I’m Thinking About” from the Home page. You will be able to work from this list in the fall when you begin applying to colleges and move them to “Colleges I’m Applying to.”
Enrichment/Internships: Research summer enrichment opportunities and internships. A list of each can be found in Naviance.
College Websites: Check college websites for application deadlines and testing requirements.
Travel: Visit college campuses during the summer.
Work Permits
Students under 18 years of age are required by state law to have a work permit issued through their home school. Students may not work until the actual work permit has been issued. This also applies to students who work for a parent. Work permits take approximately four days to process, so please plan accordingly. Students must pick up the work permit upon completion since it requires their signature. Please click HERE for the forms and to find additional information.
Summer Work Permits
Please note that Del Norte will process work permits through June 3rd at our school site. From June 10th through the start of school in August, work permits will be processed at Poway Adult School at 13626 Twin Peaks Road on Mondays through Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. For more information, click HERE.
Upcoming SAT/ACT Dates
UCs and CSUs have suspended the use of ACT/SAT examinations in determining admission eligibility. Please refer to college admissions requirements to determine if tests are required.

Scholarships
Scholarships are entered into Naviance often. Click on the Colleges tab and then click on the Scholarship link. Some scholarships to consider:
Miramar College Masonic Working Tools Scholarship: This scholarship is open to those interested in advanced transportation programs. Career paths may include: automotive technology, diesel technology, emergency medical technician, and aviation maintenance technology. Stop the Bleed National Scholarships/Frontline Families Scholarships – The National STOP THE BLEED Day Project is designed to heighten public awareness by making it easy for individuals and organizations to get involved in the campaign. In addition to scholarships for individual students, it is also open to students who have a parent or guardian who have been on the frontline this past year. Video and essay scholarships available. See Naviance for details and how to apply. Deadline is May 31st.
Big Sun Scholarship –This scholarship is for student athletes. Submit a short essay (500 – 1000 words) answering the following questions: How did your participation in sports during your high school years influence you? Has your participation influenced your career goals? Has your participation influenced how you relate to your family? Deadline June 19th.
Angels Wings Thai Scholarship Initiative 2022 - The initiative behind the Angels Wings Thai Scholarship is to recognize and honor Thai-American students who have demonstrated academic excellence, commitment to their Thai community, heritage connection and desire to continue their education. An essay is required. Deadline June 27th.
Encuentros Leadership Opportunity for Latinx Male Students
Encuentros Leadership has opened the application process for this year’s college residential summer academies at CSU San Marcos and UCSD for Latinx males within San Diego County.
During the academies, students will experience dormitory life, receive no-cost meals, participate in classroom lectures, field activities, tours, speeches, themed presentations, and dialog sessions focused on the development of individual written, presentation and leadership skills. The academies are completely NO COST to the students who participate!
