Laurel Springs School Update
September 15, 2023

Dear Laurel Springs School Families,
As we finish our first full week of the 2023-24 school year, I can't help but feel thankful for the time we have spent back at school. Our students and staff have filled our halls with positivity and excitement. It is overwhelmingly refreshing and reassuring to witness firsthand the relationships that are being built, the fun that occurs at recess, and the learning that is happening in classrooms. During the first week, our teachers have established clear classroom expectations that aim to set our students up for success this year. Extreme gratitude goes out to our entire faculty and staff for an effective start to the year.
Thank you to all who attended our Back to School Night last night. It was great to see faces from past years and also to meet some of our new families. We had a great turnout! The magnitude of your involvement in the school life of your child is hard to overstate. I appreciate you taking the time.
Thanks for a great first week! I hope you have a wonderful weekend,
Mr. Ryan Mahlman
Principal/Superintendent

Arrival Time
Students should arrive at school between 8:20-8:30am. No one will be permitted in the building or on school grounds before this time regardless of weather. Contractual obligations require this time table. School officially begins at 8:30.
3. Room Parents
Each class will be assigned a team of room parents. Two parents from each team will be selected to be in-person room parents for each of our 3 holiday events. Our classroom events consist of Halloween, Winter, and Spring Celebrations.
Signing up does not guarantee that you will be selected for the in-person role, however, you will at least be offered a role as an at home team member. At home team members will still help coordinate and communicate celebration plans.
The two room parents who come in for each celebration will lead the class in a craft, a book, a trivia type game, etc. There will not be food consumed at class celebrations.
To be an in-person room parent or part of a stay at home room parent team, you must be a member of our HSC. It's never too late to join! You will be notified if you are selected to be a room parent for this school year and communication with your classroom teacher will begin.
Thank you for your support!
Room Parent sign ups will close on September 26th at 4pm.

6. Bright Arrow Communication
Please ensure you are receiving messages from our school. We currently use BrightArrow to communicate with our families. This might come in the form of a text, an email, or a recorded phone call message. This system works in conjunction with PowerSchool. If you are not receiving messages, please give us a call to ensure all of your information is correct and we will get you set up to receive further communication. We will typically send out a couple of messages per week with updates and reminders. This is also how we will communicate school closings due to weather.
