Hardware, Software, Input, Output
How much do you know?
Hardware and Software
Computer hardware is any physical device used in or with your machine, whereas software is a collection of code installed onto your computers hard drive. For example, the computer monitor you are using to read this text text and the mouse you are using to navigate this web page is computer hardware. The Internet Browser that allowed you to visit this page and the operating that the browser is running on are both considered as software.
Input and Output
An input is a data that a computer receives, an output is data that a computer sends. Computers only work with digital information. Any input that a computer receives must be digitized. Often data has to be converted back to an analogue format when it's output, for example the sound from a computer's speakers.
Computer data storage, often called storage or memory, is a technology consisting of computer components and recording media used to retain digital data. It is a core function and fundamental component of computers. The central processing unit (CPU) of a computer is what manipulates data by performing computations.
