High School Highlights
Weekly Updates from Big Walnut High School
Week of November 1, 2021
November is here! Our third round of parent-teacher conferences will be held on Thursday, November 11 from 4:00-7:30. Contact our main office if you are interested in meeting with your child's teacher(s).
As you are aware, we will be moving to the new high school building at the end of the first semester. We know you and your student(s) may be anxious about the changes this move will bring. Please know that we are working very hard to make sure this transition is a smooth one. Over the next two months, we will share a variety of resources to make sure everyone is prepared and ready to open our new building in January! Stay tuned!
As always, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teachers, school counselor or the administration if you have any questions or concerns. Feel free to contact the main office at 740-965-3766 between the hours of 7:00 and 3:15.
Are you dropping your student(s) off in the morning?
As you know, there are many students being dropped off in the morning which makes for a lot of traffic. When dropping your student(s) off in the front circle, please pull all the way forward, to the edge of the circle. Please do not stop in front of the door to the school. We are hoping this will help speed up the flow. Thanks for your cooperation!

Spring 2022 Scheduling Has Started for Columbus State
Students taking CCP courses on the Big Walnut HS campus don't have to complete a Spring registration process, they just need to make sure the class is listed on their spring schedule. If there is an issue with this, they should see their HS Counselor.
Huge Congratulations to Our FFA Students!
Last week, our Food Science & Technology CDE Team placed FIRST overall at the National FFA Food Science and Technology Career Development Event! The team competed against 40 other state’s winners to claim the honor.
In addition to the team rating, all four participating students were in the top eight overall! Sophie Marvin placed 8th, Lily Asbridge placed 4th, Justin Hill placed 3rd, and Caleb Durheim was the overall winner of the event!
This is the third straight national win for our chapter. No other school has ever won the event in back-to-back years, let alone three in a row!
Each student will receive a scholarship and the US Poultry & Egg Association has offered them an all-expenses paid trip to the International Production & Processing Expo in January.
Huge Congratulations to these students and whole FFA Program!
