Please welcome our new Gates Mills Principal
Thank You
A special THANK YOU from Ms. McCullough, our fifth grade teacher and her students: We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Gates Mills parents for supporting the fifth grade class by having your child participate in the Parents Night Out activity last Friday, March 15th. It was a HUGE success!! We had over 65 students participate in this fun activity helping us towards reaching our goal. This money will go towards the fifth grade end-of-year trip and a gift to Gates Mills School from the Class of 2019! Thank you so much! Also a special thank you to the staff for volunteering their time to chaperone this event last Friday!
Inside the Idea Lab with Mrs. Stephens
This week in Idea Lab we were very excited to try out our new interactive TV. All classes got to use the TV either for voting in the March Book Madness Final Four round or experimenting with the annotate function to write, draw, and erase over an internet page. As we get to use the TV more, we will learn more of the features and functions it can perform in an educational setting.
This week many students checked out featured books on the topics of spring, basketball, and Women’s History. When we return from spring break it will be April and we will have a whole new group of featured topics to choose from each week.
Since it was the last day for Idea Lab before spring break, we had free choice after March Book Madness voting and book checkout were completed. Many students chose to try out our newest Magna-Tiles sets. Others chose to play checkers, build with Legos, put together puzzles, or play chess.
Many classes were lucky to have Officer Arch, our School Resource Officer, stop in to visit them in Idea Lab today. Officer Arch has been listening to our March Book Madness books and voting along with us. He is on Team Winnie and has enjoyed playing along with us each week. We are down to the final four and will vote in the championship after spring break. Have a safe and restful break and don’t forget your library books when you return to school!
