Student Opportunites
The Doodle 4 Google Competition has officially opened. Students in grades K-12 are invited to take part in the 2020 Doodle 4 Google contest. This year’s Doodle for Google theme is: “I SHOW KINDNESS BY...” Kindness is so much more than just being nice. This year’s theme invites you to tell us how you show kindness. Is it by helping around your home? Volunteering in your community’s green space? Maybe it’s comforting someone who’s down, or picking up trash in the park. However you define it, let us know how you bring a little bit more kindness into the world. Take your ideas and bring them to life in your doodle!
Like all Google Doodles, each doodle must incorporate the letters G-o-o-g-l-e. One national winner will receive a $30,000 college scholarship, a $50,000 technology package for their school/non-profit organization, and a behind-the-scenes experience with the Doodle team to transform their Doodle into an interactive experience on Google.com.
We would like to continue to celebrate our young artist by hosting our very own District Doodle4Google Competition. Students should follow the same guidelines as outlined by Doodle4Google, however, please submit the entries (including a completed submission form) to the WSD Tech Department where we will pick one winner from each category for district winners, and mail ALL submissions to Google.
Please submit all Doodles (including Submission Form) to the Technology Department by March 2nd, 2020, via interoffice mail. If a student’s artwork is in a digital format, email a high-quality photo/graphic to Samantha Knoll, Amanda Moody or Mike McCann (be sure to still send the entry form).
We will pick out 1 winner in each of the following categories:
K-2 | 3-6 | 7-8 | 9-12

Attention 11th Grade Parents!
Dear Junior Parents and Students:
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services has mandated that the Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccine (MCV4) will be required for all twelfth (12th) grade students. All students starting 12th grade shall have two doses of MCV. This immunization is different from the recommended but not required Meningitis B. You may request a copy of your child’s immunization record by contacting the school nurse’s office.
Your child’s medical provider can provide more information concerning the vaccine and requirements.
Please provide proof of immunizations by August 1, 2020 to your student’s school nurse. This will allow ample time for the nurses to check compliance of each student’s immunization records. Students who do not have immunization proof prior to the first day of school will not be allowed to start the new school year until proof of vaccination is received. If your student is participating in summer school between their 11th and 12th grade year, they MUST show proof of this immunization PRIOR to summer school starting in June.
If your student has already received his/her shot for their senior year please fax or email an up to date record to the nurse’s office as soon as possible. If you are not sure if your student is up to date, please call their doctor. It is important to know that your child's doctor's office does not automatically send us their immunization records. It is a parent's responsibility to request those be sent to us.
Thank you for your attention to this important issue. Please contact the school nurse if you have any questions regarding this vaccine requirement.
