Bay Creek Beat
February 4, 2016
The regular season of Basketball has just ended. It was a great season. The boys ended up with a 3-10 record and our girls ended up with a 7-6 record. As our players were working hard on the court, our cheerleaders kept everyone on high spirits throughout the games.
The girls basketball team will advance to the playoff round. This year the tournament will be played at Brookwood High school and is hosted by Crews Middle School. The Lady Rams are scheduled to play this Saturday at 12:00 pm. We hope to see you there to cheer on our girls! Wish our girls luck in the playoffs!
I know with the warm weather this past week; it seems strange to talk about the possibility of a snow day. But, stranger things have happened! In the event that there are more than 4 snow days, Gwinnett County will enact a “cyber” learning day. This means that on the 5th day school is cancelled, teachers will post assignments on their eCLASS pages for students to complete while at home. In order to test the system and the capacity of the servers, we will have a test day. The test day will be on the first snow day called. Your child’s teachers will provide additional details in class for your students and we will post specific details on our web page, Connect 2 Grayson App, and on our Bay Creek eCLASS landing page.

Love is in the air . . . that is the newest display up in the Media Center. Ask your student about our love poetry. My favorite is "You give love a bad name" - it is a collection of the lyrics of the pop hits of the 70s and 80s. So they think they are reading a poem by Whitney Houston when it's really the lyrics to "Didn't we almost have it all?" Have them check it out, you will start humming as you turn the first page.
Celebrating Black History Month, we have over 180 books on display celebrating this special month. From Civil Rights to the Harlem Renaissance, from Harriet Beecher Stowe to Mae Jemison, from Jackie Robinson to Bessie Coleman. 8th grade especially is looking at these books - ask to see what your students bring home.
And celebrating February 15th, President's Day, we have our Presidential Display, biographies of our Presidents, their first Ladies and all the history in between. Stop and take a minute the next time you are at Bay Creek and test your Presidential Knowledge. Fun questions are posted all over our front doors . . . challenge your child, who knows their Presidents? For as Abraham Lincoln once said, "Whatever you are, be a good one."
