Taradale Primary School

Kia ora whānau,
Welcome back to the COVID update. As you will note from the table we are seeing a slight resurgence in numbers, however this is not unusual as many other schools and businesses are seeing a similar pattern. We wonder whether these small surges may be part of our year going forward and hope that we do not see the large spikes that were evident with the initial Omicron outbreak. As you know we will be doing all we can to slow down the spread of COVID-19 which at TPS looks like great handwashing, wearing masks and keeping kids home when they are unwell. In that way we can protect our kura and our community.
We are aware of a number of local schools who currently have a large number of staff absence through COVID illness. This has a huge impact on continuity of teaching and learning, often requiring many different relievers and combined classes. While this is not ideal as a response it is often the only available option. Keeping our kaiako and tamariki safe will prevent this becoming an issue at our kura.
Continuing with our health precautions may also prevent the spread and impact of norovirus, the flu and other winter nasties. Thanks for all you’re doing to help keep your whānau, our kura and community safe.
Ngā mihi,
Marty
