English Language Arts (ELA):
In word study, we have started contractions. Please review at home.
In writing, we are continuing to working on narrative writing. We will complete our writing about a small moment with a special person or pet. We will also write about our rocks.
In reading, we will be working on finding evidence in the text and making opinions about characters by using their actions and words. You can help at home by reading fiction stories and asking your child to think about what the character does and says in the story.
In Science, we are learning about the properties of rocks. Your child should be able to define a rock, tell you the three main types of rocks, and describe how those rocks are formed. We will test our rock knowledge on Thursday. Study guide will come home on Wednesday.
In social studies, we are learning about the locations and features in S.C. We are also learning about the river systems of South Carolina.
- iPads have been distributed. Remind your child to take care of their devices. Students are expected to charge devices at home each night, so that they are ready for learning during the day. Please report any damage or lost of devices to me immediately.
- MAP testing begins this week for our students. It will be taken on their iPads. You may want to be in the habit of sending the charger in their bags in case of emergencies.
